Wait, I only got back to smoking pipes in 2018After half a century of pipe smoking, I find that my PAD is finally in remission.
YepNice pipes all, but sooner or later you reach the age where buying pipes is impractical.
If you mean, you get to a point where you realize you now have nearly too many pipes to smoke within a time period that does them justice and, therefore see little need to buy more-yup.Nice pipes all, but sooner or later you reach the age where buying pipes is impractical.
My goodness that 1914 Peterson billiard is marvelous. Love that it has a case too. This is the easiest question I’ve ever been asked.
Unfortunately it’s Sophie’s Choice.
This has been the single greatest year of collecting. I’ve been unbelievably fortunate.
But here are my top two.
1923 Peterson Magnum and an 1892 Peterson Patent

Now if the question is my two greatest saves, huge shoutout to Ryan Alden. Those are 1911 Peterson Patent Calabash and a 1914 Peterson. Both required extensive skill and technical knowledge to save.

Altinay lattice billiard meerschaum and it ain’t even close.
Xmas gift from my wife from Xmas of 2021 but it didn’t arrive until Jan 2022 so I’m counting it as a this year pipe. So far she’s gotten me my first pipe, my favorite pipe (this altinay), and my beautiful hanging pipe shelf. I’m a happy man.
The Christmas commission turned out great. The pipe really does scream Santa Claus to my eye.View attachment 190361View attachment 190363View attachment 190365View attachment 190366View attachment 190367View attachment 190368View attachment 190370View attachment 190373View attachment 190374View attachment 190375View attachment 190376View attachment 190378View attachment 190380View attachment 190381
Whoa! I love it tooLike @ashdigger this has been the greatest year for my collection too.
Except I can’t pick a pipe. So I just randomly scrolled through my photos and chose one.
I got this for $10. It’s a 1923 barling with a gold band. I love everything about this pipe.
