Well. virginia flake of mac baren, with 113 reviews and a rating of 2.58. I think two and a half stars. Not a lot of reviews, or yes. But I remember reading their negative comments. But not content with that, being a novice, I started to stock up on this sweet and fantastic tobacco, which at that time, I do not remember well, was at 5 euros for a 50 gram tin. And now it is around 10 euros. A very acceptable, and fantastic tobacco, if you cannot have the HH range.
Mac Baren Virginia Flake with a few years of age is a great blend. To my palate, it is much different then HH Pure Virginia. VF is lighter, and little spicier, and has some sort of very light casing or topping. Maybe honey, maybe citrus, maybe both.

I'm going to toss in another one...

Dan London Blend 1000. I'm actually smoking some right now. I'm not sure it strictly qualifies as under-rated since the reviews on TR are pretty positive, but I definitely feel like it flies pretty far under the radar considering how good it is. Certainly one of the best and most complex full English borderline lat bombs I've ever had.

I guess I’ll add another, at the risk of breaking the rules ☺️

4Noggins Weybridge has been mentioned favorably here by a few people, and I just picked up 8oz. I’ve only had 2 bowls, so I'm drawing conclusions hastily, but I think it’s fantastically blended. A good burley base with awesome flavor from what seems like red VA all of the way through the bowl. I’m not sure I can pick out the perique but my nostrils can and I have a feeling it’s adding some excellent complexity as a light condiment. I’m probably going to smoke a lot of this stuff…

Tobacco reviews on Weybridge are few and quite mixed. Some love it, and some think it’s very bland - which surprises me. Granted, I like burley and I absolutely adore certain VA varieties.
It ages wonderfully.

I personally hate aromatics, but I LOVE Sir Walter Raleigh aromatic. It has a light chocolate liquor flavor and the burley smell comes.through nicely. My roommate digs the room note and taste close to how it smells. It's one of the few pipe tobaccos I can get outside of the local B&M

F&T Golden Mixture i dunno just something about it , never hear about it but it's my go to bright leaf on those really hot days with some Sweet Tea.
I've never seen it in stock. But I look because it was Bertrand Russell's blend of choice.

About 3.5-4 years ago (near the beginning) I smoked through a tin of Merde de Cheval, and promptly ordered a few more. I've yet to open a 2nd tin (still exploring other new ones) but never seen a good comment about it on here.
I do think I'll appreciate it in the future, but it may be a little milder than I prefer by that time.

MM/Sutliff Lord Morgan. 60% Latakia, aged in a “top shelf” bourbon barrel. I smoke a lot of Lat blends. My wife puts up with ‘em.. This is the only one that had my wife go, “That smells great. You should smoke that more often”.

She’s right.

Also Erik Stockkebye 4th Generation 2012 Anniversary Blend for one in a completely different genre.
I get the most delicate sense of pair from the very light topping.

Here are two that are not generally discussed but I really enjoy. Caveat: both are Latakia forward.

Ahab’s Comfort, a “crumble flake” by master blender Ernie Q. at Watch City. 3.63/4.0 rating on TR (16 reviews). Heck, give it a try based on its name only. A great smoke.

Fusilier’s Ration, a “reinterpretation” of Bengal Slices by Russ O. for Hearth & Home. I would describe it as delicious, in a smoky sort of way. 3.21/4.0 on TR. (53 reviews).
