Well, it’s 2 states away so. . . I’ll keep it if nothing else. I agree that a ring would hide the nomenclature so that’s most likely out.I'd try to take it back. If you band it you'll cover a lot of the nomenclature, not to mention the cost.
Well, two states away and twenty bucks you may as well keep it. There will probably be advice here on a self repair but I can't help you with that. I'm a silver band type guyWell, it’s 2 states away
Sounds like good advice to me. Kind of what I wanted to hear!$20 is okay. Even with the crack. It’s usable and in otherwise good shape. Crack looks a little open. Tenon is maybe a little tight. Probably what caused the crack. I’d use it and keep an eye on it. If it doesn’t get worse, ignore it.
Would have never even picked up on it being a knot until you mentioned it.Upon closer inspection, going by the grain it looks more like a crack in a knot in the wood and not caused by stress.
Good call. It’s a weak spot.Upon closer inspection, going by the grain it looks more like a crack in a knot in the wood and not caused by stress.
Does that change anything or should I just smoke it? I will try some beeswax.Good call. It’s a weak spot.
It’s just part of the reason it cracked. Carry on.Does that change anything or should I just smoke it? I will try some beeswax.
Yes, there is always a minor surface crack on a knot like that. Sometimes it goes through, and other times it does not.Upon closer inspection, going by the grain it looks more like a crack in a knot in the wood and not caused by stress.
I see it a lot in the center of ring grains.Yes, there is always a minor surface crack on a knot like that. Sometimes it goes through, and other times it does not.
