You can always get out your bedazzler and add a bit of flare to an ugly pipe or let your kids dive into their sticker pile and glitter. I agree with the advice that a good smoking pipe with a bad haircut is worth keeping around, but a looker might need to go to the shop to get an upgrade.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have some pipes that I am sure aren't on anyones top 25 list that smoke ok, but I don't mind how they look.

My first pipe I bought in my mid 20s was a medium bent Peterson Fermoy 05 with a wide polished nickel band. Being the idiot I was (still am), when the band slid off once, I tried to super glue it back on. Went about as well as you’d expect.

I’ve since polished most of the glue off, and it looks okay. It doesn’t smoke very well though, gurgles a lot, regardless of what I put in it. I don’t smoke it often anymore, but keep it around since it was my first pipe.
