I am so fucking mad that Charlie Kirk got shot i need you guys to distract me.

What are some great quotes, not necessarily famous people quotes, that you have come to value?

Here are 3 I use for dating/family:

If they'll do it for you, they'll do it to you.
Love that one. It's so true. I've seen so many people shocked to get what they saw someone else do to many others.
Another version of that is if you think you're being included as a coconspirator in a con you're the mark.

There's no such thing as luck. If your buttered toast falls on the floor butter-side down, don't get mad. Spread some peach jam on the other side, close your eyes, count to 10, and toss it in the air. If it lands butter-side down again, just eat the damn toast and stop being an asshole.

There are lots of great sayings to live by, but the one saying that I’ve heard too often that is the biggest lie is this: “It’s not what you know, but who you know that matters most in life.” Flesh this saying out to its inevitable conclusion and you’ll see (on both points) how inaccurate and detrimental it is. And, if you ever hear your loved ones say it, correct them immediately.

I'm certainly going to try. Forgiving my enemies is always the challenge.
Not directed at @ashdigger, but many seem to gloss over that “Forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive those who trespass against us” is a specific conditional contract request.
Definitely an area of life that falls into the “progress not perfection” category for me.

I take zero offense. I’m kind, generous and completely forgiving of everyone, but my forgiveness isn’t a 365/24/7 deal.

I forgive everyone at least once, possibly twice.

After that you become an enemy. I forgive my enemies from a distance. There is nothing in my book, key phrase is my book, that allows continued abuse.

I prefer the company of friends, I won’t allow an enemy at my fire.

Having said all of that. I wish you all a good smoke, happy life and no enemies.

Not much there to disagree with my friend.
There’s much of my spiritual growth that is still best practiced “at a distance” (especially forgiveness), and I’m not on board with turning another cheek to get slapped again, and doubt if I ever will be.
