I can't find who said it now but someone said to take the filter out of the dr grabow. I did that today and what a difference it made in the draw.

This is a great post. thanks

Sipping has been mentioned, so I'll move on to another.
An important lesson that I learned was that experimentation is my best friend. If your instincts suggest trying something--be it a different style pipe, tobacco, packing method, whatever--try it. You have nothing to lose, everything to gain, and knowledge to learn.
An example of this is Balkan mixtures. When I first started, I only smoked aromatics. The tin note of Balkan and English Blends made my stomach turn. Then one day I read an article on H&H Black House and I thought the label looked neat. So I bought and tried it. Now, I rarely smoke aromatics.
Go with your gut. Experiment. Even if you're inspired by something as silly as a cool looking label. Try it!

Since it's only one thing you can wish for it's proper smoking cadence. But proper packing is equally important and being warned of PAD and TAD would have been helpfull.
