Yeah, I'd say over the years the diet Cokes have become an addiction.

It's funny too, because when I first started drinking them I really didn't like them. I was a teenager trying to cut out sweet tea.

I probably drink 6 a day. And those damn things have gotten expensive too.

I'm gonna take a wild guess you don't drink much water. You gotta replace all that diet coke with water dude.

You talking about the stuff in the toilet?

But I'm sure you're right. I've drank a few bottles here and there lately, but not enough.

Order one of these and you can drink directly out of the toilet. Maybe by making it this convenient it will prompt you to up your water intake.

I'm 72 and was diagnosed with Type 2 in 2000 when I had back surgery. I've never developed an insulin dependency but I have run the gauntlet of different medications. The first one they put me on was glyburide which made me retain water and my weight ballooned up to 253 lbs. Once they took me off that and switched me to other medications, my weight dropped to about 225. I am now taking a once a week shot of Trulicity and Jardiance and Metformin.

I still smoke my pipe almost daily and will have one or two drinks a night. I no longer drink beer though. I also don't eat bread, rice or potatoes on a daily basis any more. (I still eat them, just not every day.)

Between that and riding my bike three or four days a week, my weight has now dropped to 184 lbs.

What works for me, works for me. Talk to your doctor for advice. Don't rely on any information you see on social media and forums.

Thanks for the link.

That article says nicotine raises blood sugar. I have done some reading on the matter, and I often see both takes. Some say it drops blood sugar, some say it raises.

Later today I'm going to get more test strips and do some experimenting.
"Smoking may increase the risk of diabetes because it can increase blood sugar levels."

The article didn't say nicotine raises blood sugar. It said smoking raises blood sugar. Since you use smokeless tobacco this is an important distinction. Also, unless you're smoking a significant amount of cigarettes, which is where nearly all the smoking data for these studies comes from, the likelihood is that the factors involved are ones other than smoking, such as diet, physical activity, family history etc.
