From another lifetime- when I somewhat could But most of my wildlife shots were taken at the zoo

Sony A300 - 70-300 at 300, f 5.6 1/1000 ISO400

Most likely aperture priority - Used to be my favorite mode

I’m not the best photographer but I do enjoy it from time to time. My dad is much more serious about it. I need to get out and take some pictures. I’m loving everyone else’s pictures. I always enjoyed macro, I took this with a Nikon D70s several years ago.

Enjoying the discussion. Can always pick up some things or a perspective that will be helpful. Agree entirely that the important thing is to see or imagine the shot, be patient and create one that has action in some form that tells a story with visual effect.

I always tell people that's what there feet are for. Using feet sometimes results in a change of view which can lead to a better picture. Of course, that's not always an option so, shoot away and hope for the best. The foreground vegetation saves your shot along with the reflection. A great shot? Nah! An interesting shot? Indeed!

I would enjoy those without the birds. The colours and emptiness are the main theme of those exposures to my eyes.
