My favorite animal, the elusive Canadian Lynx. These guys live near one of my favorite trout creeks, I spent the summer getting to know them from a distance, they are very smart and shy animals and generally don't show themselves to you unless they feel comfortable with you. This day they came right out and I even had the female come up and almost sniff my hand, she backed off about 5 or 6 feet away from me. The male stayed about 10 feet behind her and stood guard, he probably would have attacked me if he thought I was getting aggressive towards the female, I'm not sure if they are a pair or siblings although I think they are siblings, they're both pretty young.
I don't recommend people get this close to wild predators but I've been in the bush since I was a small child and I'm familiar with most animals behavior patterns and find them to be predictable. The only animals I really fear is moose and geese, they're unpredictable. I've been close to black bears and wolves many times feed wild foxes out of my hand. There's nothing I would rather do with my life then be out in the bush with nothing to defend myself except a pocket knife.
