Apparently me smoking a pipe bothers my wife, i only smoke outdoors and have to clean my pipes outside also (she cant stand the smell). i hope it doesn't put a strain on our relationship as i am only smoking to relieve stress. i don't drink or smoke cigarettes. anybody else have these problems? its about 35 degrees outside and dark and its time for a bowl of dunhills nightcap. cheers!
Were you smoking a pipe before the marriage? was it an issue then?
My wife is glad I quit smoking cigs. She gives me my pipe smoking space, outdoors of course, considering we have a 1 br apt and a 2 month old baby. I would not smoke indoors regularly as I personally don't like residual odors.

Cleaningwise, I have a designated area for that in the kitchen, and as long as I don't ream the cake in the sink (anymore), there are no issues.
The only smell issue she has is with Latakia-heavy blends and/or Balkans. I am not allowed to smoke those unless I go on walks. Sure, doesn't sit too well with me, but relationships are about give and take.
Sounds like you guys need to sit dow, talk and compromise. Attitude is everything. Explain to her that smoking relaxes you and all that. Mention the stress you're already under from other sources. TALK. Be considerate and don't go at it with the "my way or the highway". I'm only 34 but I learned a while ago that acting like a Richard usually warrants females to act like female dogs :D
FWIW Nightcap is usually not my choice of smoke for indoors, wheter others liked it or not ...

Well, if the issue is she doesn't like the smell in the house, you could probably get away with smoking something like a Boswell aromatic. People tend to love those room notes.Just say its a new type of incense you picked up
