I live at the dead end of a single lane road, so I was used to backing up a whole block, could thread a needle in reverse. But my current car has limited rear and side visibility, and I haven't gotten used to the reverse camera, my first, so I avoid backing now. Have to find an empty parking lot and some cones to practice, I reckon. Just feels odd to back up looking forward at the little screen. Its my first auto trans also, which took some getting used to also!

Backing a Suburban or similar can also result in an accident. What I do is find a place I can pull through, but it might require I walk a little further from the door which is no big deal.

And I drive a 1999 Tahoe and a "roller skate". If I want to get closer to the door, I ride the bicycle...LOL!!

Man, I read this entire thread and all I could think about was the unnecessary calling out of Morrison Jeremiah. My forehead is still wrinkled in disgust. Grow some balls. “common decency?” Really?

And you made him feel compelled to apologize? Not once, but twice?

If that’s the kind of place this is becoming, you ladies enjoy your crocheting. A mod no less. But Embers, that was that really necessary?

Sorry but that’s my opinion and I can’t shake the distaste in my mouth.

OP — I always back into parking spaces. Always have. Dad taught me that. My lady does the same. It’s one of the things that identified her to me as an unusual specimen of I gotta make her mine.

I couldn't agree more. The level of outrage over such a silly topic is perplexing.

I'm pretty good at parallel parking but this spot from a couple weeks ago might be my crowning achievement in the field. The dude behind me had a driveway entrance behind him for all the aged male Karens here.

A moderator’s comment carries weight and rightfully so. Had his comment come from a member—Morrison wouldn’t have felt compelled to apologize.

Our Mod’s post was a playful “one of us” quip in a fun thread and I don’t think he intended to elicit an apology from Jeremiah.

Ember’s, wholly unnecessary, “Yeah boss, he has no common decency, boss” is what disgusted me. After reading that I was ready to throw my phone.

Sure enough, here comes poor Morrison, who I’m sure felt taken aback by the attention he’d received, offering his apologies to both.

Morrison, I didn’t take any offense to your comment and I’m sure most here agree. Even though you are wrong about pulling into parking spaces??

Isn't it your thread? Ha ha ha!!

Yea but I wasn't foaming at the mouth over people backing in. Just questioning the logic and although I was disparaging backer-ins I wish them no ill will quite the opposite, I wish them peace, even if they are robbing the local Stop-n-Shop.
