What came in the tins sure sounds like Latakia Blend to me

do you think German market LB has Syrian? No. So wouldn’t it be the same thing?
From Estervals descriptio:
Manufacturer Description:
A roll cake tobacco, spun by carefully matured Virginia and Cavendish tobaccos with a light taste of Latakia, bringing about a wonderful aroma. Quite specially selected Virginia-leaves are used as an envelope for all our spun tobaccos. The deposit for this special mixture is a mix of Virginia, original Mac Baren Cavendish and a touch of Syrian Latakia leaves. Collectively, these tobaccos give the Latakia Blend its fresh and flawless smoke. As with all our spun tobaccos only a soft top flavor has been added. You will not come any closer the natural tobacco flavor than with this tobacco.

I have no idea if there's any Syrian left, and no idea if the German-marketed one would be similar or identical to the limited edition one we are faced with. On the face of it, the description of the new blend matches the smoking experience of the old blend, and yet I am assured by all that they are not the same. In a sense, they can't be "the same" if the old one had Syrian, no matter what. I didn't rush out and buy any because I have lots of the old one, which I enjoy.

Damn ... I passed on it because I didn't want the spicy lat bomb described by Smoking Pipes. The MacB naturally sweet, lightly sour, and slightly smoky description sounds fantastic. Bummer.
I was in the same boat. Don't really care much for latakia these days, but really enjoy the roll cake business. The reason i didn't jump on this release is because i thought there would be a fair amount of latakia. Oh well, i live to smoke another day.

Even DFK tobaccos aren't as fired up as they use to be. And that's most likely a healthier thing for smokers.

My dad use to complain about car manufactures moving away from metal dashboards. He hated seatbelts when they were added. Sometimes change isn't so bad. I doubt the tobaccos of today compare with the tobacco of 150 years ago and that probably is a good thing.

I have no earthly idea about what these tobaccos are. But, I probably wouldn't judge a tobacco just on how it looks, just as I wouldn't rely merely just on what's printed on the label.
How many things in life does the marketing and actual world experience line up perfectly?

Very true. I guess my question is if this is in fact a different product from the already existing Latakia Roll Cake. I didn’t think it was ... similar to how they released Stockton etc. here.

however maybe it is a totally different product... but why does what most people seem to get from it match the existing description of the Latakia Blend?

It depends somewhat on how you interpret the wording. I stare at graphs all day that represent a statistically significant difference between the most negligible margins imaginable (e.g. an increase from, say, 2% - 3%).

Nowhere did anything I read about this blend give me the impression that this was a Latakia-dominant blend.
