Mario Grandi makes some good pipes in that price range.
Not sure if they're still in production, but I bought 3 many years ago and they are all great smokers. Good grain on a lot of them too.

I've noticed this as well.
Some Stanwells are up at Castello prices.
How are the newer Stanwells? I heard they are being made in Italy these days, any better or worse?

Best factory pipe sub $100 I've ever owned is a 1950s Rusticated Peterson System Standard 314 that I picked up on ebay for $75.

Never had a problem with my Italian made Stanwells.
No issues with drilling, fit etc.
That's good to hear. It doesn't usually go well when a company moves to another country, I mean look at the new Brighams compared to the old ones.
i am smoking mine right now and It was well under 100 and it smokes like a dream.

I always wanted a Savinelli, they are great-looking and I have heard good things about their quality and "smokability". After reading through this thread, now I REALLY want one!
They’re great smokers, and the Series III pipes (kind of like unfinished seconds) are pretty cheap and probably smoke just as well as any of them. If you don’t want to risk much $$ trying out a Savinelli for the first time, that might be the ticket.
