Back in mid-late 90s, I would take a group of my grade 8 students to DC. I was in Ohio at the time and John Kasich was our Rep. He was able to get us into the Whitehouse on three trips. There was a lot of security clearance to get in, but I don’t recall any when we left. Of course there were secret service in each room we could visit and who knows how many security cameras. Then came 9/11…it all ended.Makes me wonder if departing guests are scanned for metallic objects- very discreetly, of course. And I bet staff is accountable for each piece of silver.
Jogged my memory: Airlines used to offer playing cards all the time! Haven't even thought of asking in the last 20 or so years. Problably, "No we don't have any at all."
