Which Pipe would You Choose?

1. Top pipe James Upshall late 80’s for $63.21 total bought on eBay or
2. Bottom pipe Randy Wiley 95 grade $62.05 total bought on eBay?

Upshall, no question. Great smoking pipes.

I have owned a few Upshalls and the sulfur laden stems stink and taste like shit.
If the Willey used acrylic I would go for that one.

Cigrmaster, all of Wiley’s pipes used acrylic stems, so yes it’s acrylic. All the bowls are oil cured.

I’ll second @trouttimes Upshall recommendation - great pipes. I’ve only owned three, and don’t recall @cigrmaster’s experience - but have def had some bitter stems on a few other individual pipes of different makes. Keeping the oxidation off the stem surface goes a long way toward muting that effect - but I no longer want to put in the elbow grease on repeat offenders!

all of Wiley’s pipes used acrylic stems, so yes it’s acrylic.

That alone would make me choose the Upshall though both appear too small for me to consider them regular smoking.
