If we only knew where "here" is we might have some help for you. I've never heard of this happening in my life.

Either way, he said that the pipes that he waxed were the most affected so I don't think waxing more would help.

Uh, you're trying to smoke a pipe in the middle of a rain forest?? Well, this sounds pretty tough to me. Man, I don't know unless you could get a container that removes the humidity from the air and you store your pipes and tobacco in their.

I live of and on in NC coast and for 19 years I have never seen year like 2020 and 2021 when it rained for so long that most of my stuff got whitish green mold on them..specially leather stuff.furniture.clothes etc.For gods sake pipes did not get it for some reason but it was a horrible time...even my classic off road vehicle got mold everywhere..I was even thinking to relocate completely but land in mountain areas is quite high so for now i stay put..a lot nicer year 2022..quite dry and sunny...I see your problems buddy you neither burry your pipes in a Pelican or quit smoking.did I mention how bad this moisture is for a gun collections?Good luck dealing with it.

Tea tree oil for mold is what I have read and used for bathroom cleaning purposes. I have used it with some success on a river rock shower floor. How/if that applies to pipes though is not something I have any experience with, so it can't offer any help there.

Here's an idea: Keep active with only 2-4 pipes, AND smoke each to near the bottom, with extra dry tobacco.

Please post results in a week or two.

And, please put your location in your Profile!
Why: It will save time for others as to where you live when you mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc. In many instances that saves time for those who read your posts, and for you in not having to reply to inquiries. .
How:
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. province, etc.

@nathaniel you live "off-grid" but do you have any [electrical] appliances whatsoever? In particular any that generate heat via radiative loss such as refrigerators? It might be a good idea to hang your pipes (for example) on your refrigerator radiator or keep them on top of your PC if it's always on and running. Keeping the pipes warm will protect from cloud condensation and drive off humidity.

EO’s are strong. You will taste them. Aside from selecting a pipe material that is an undesirable substrate I’d be trying to leverage your fires…maybe the smoke and dry air will help. Maybe dig a tunnel from the side of your pit and have it elbow up to the surface and then have your pipes laid in a lidded reed basket above the smoke port. This might be better than keeping them in the canopy where I presume there is more moisture. Smoke port should be on side of fire pit opposite of prevailing wind direction so as to maximize smoke and heat coming from the port.
