Not only Hawaii, a bill currently being proposed by Democrats in Congress (HR 293) would effectively end pipe smoking in the US. Total ban on all flavored tobacco and ban on all online sales. That would mean no aromatics (90% of all pipe tobacco sold) and no P&C, SmokingPipes, etc (90%+ of all retail).

So it would just return to what was when I first started smoking a pipe in the early 1970's, when there were a lot more pipe smokers than there are today. I guess I would have to go to a tobacconist to get supplies. Might result in more tobacconists opening up shops. I could live with that.

It's possible that the fellow forum member is simply woefully ignorant, in which case I tender my apology.
My suspicion is that s/he is rather attempting to be inflammatory, in which case I assert that the truth trumps all other relevant factors.
