What do you mean by this?
I mean illness both physical and emotional. Things happen to the machinery when you get to my age without having ever used it, you know? It's not just my assessment, my physician has ruled the same thing. There's also the spiritual aspect, which is even worse: pepertual crippling depression, anger, despair, utter fear—all of these also cause physiological symptoms and/or worsen the ones already present. I'll make an exception here and not censor myself, no disrespect meant to the lady, but this can only be expressed in strong language: living alone is a fucking living HELL!! I exist in a state in which life has died and death lives.

You notice it even more when you get really sick. When you're down with a monster fever, can barely stand, and there is no one there to get you a bowl of soup. I frankly can't understand how some would love this, just to avoid the responsibility that comes with commitment. Each to their fate, I guess, but I do get irritated when they want to push singleness as 'the way'.

And no, I'm not for 'counseling'. Counseling is one of the things that has majorly fucked up our society and the world. How many of those counselors are themselves divorced, and they think they are qualified to help us with our relationships? When their own are a bloody mess?? If they believe that, whatever they've been smoking is certainly not tobacco.

OK, back to watching my language.

I will have to disagree regarding the availability of small sizes, small pipes (group size 1-3) are 10- 15 % of all pipes offered I would say.

And mostly this are not small and slick elegant pipes, but small chunky ones.

I would say (unfortunatelly) only Dunhill offers nowadays elegant small pipes nowadays.
something like that but there is an exception , Lots of French manufactured pipes are still coming in smaller size chambers, for instance, this fabulous Ropp line available at smokingpipes.co and other similar offerings one can find at Pipe.fr under the section Pipes de Saint Claude

I think when smoking a pipe became more of a connoisseur thing and less a salt of the earth practical thing. If you ever smoke an old school type leaf or blend they're often a lot stronger and have more kick. I think bigger bowls are trending because of the tobacco that is most popular at this point. Also clay and other minerals where the most common pipe materials for a long time and you don't have to let those rest as much as briar needs to rest, which means less reason to have a bigger bowl. Kind of like why there are no double length cigs that come ten to a pack, when it's easy to just smoke another one. And then there are other less tangible reasons too I am sure.

Some love's made of fire,
Some love's made of rust.
But the cleanest love - the nicest love,
Is the love that's made of lust.
Been with one,
Been with all.
There's no better love,
Than alcohol.

Spiced rum? Yikes. I know it's not very befitting of a sea-roving marauder but just smelling the stuff makes me dry-heave these days. Careful Embers, moderation is key in maintaining that kind of love.
Never to inebriate only to enjoy the taste. A shot or two of anything to help insomnia is all I ever drink. Except on my birthday, then it's no holds barred.?

Interesting, I will take a look.
Does Chacom and Peterson make smaller pipes as well?

I am interested in the Peterson Aran line, but could find anything below group size 4.

I also would be currious if there are english pipe makers, besides Dunhill, as well, that make such pipes.

I recall the days when pipe smoking was a lot more common (and cheap) here in Denmark and a lot more common here than e.g. in Germany. We Danish pipe smokers almost laughed, when visiting tobacconists in Germany. The pipes looked somehow weird and huge to us. And some even had filters, ha ha puffy So I guess the preferred pipe size is a just a question of culture, not e.g. the price of tobacco.

Here
That Ropp is a nice looking pipe. Hope it smokes well.

My first marriage was a 7 month fiasco. Just celebrated 19 years with the second one. Age and maturity are as much a factor as compatibility, in this case.

A tricky topic. I, personally, don't advocate giving up at the first bit of adversity, but also staying in a toxic scenario does no one any good.

Back on topic, looking across the 20 or so pipes in my regular use, about 5 seem to be smaller ones. Two of those are "modern" and the other 3 older estates.

Agreed. Marriage isn't something to be entered into lightly, particularly if you're a man. Men often get the short end of the stick in divorce matters and family courts- so it's vital to be keenly aware of who your partner is, whether your value systems are compatible and what you have to lose should things go south.

Yes, I've heard those words before. Twice during my stand up service. "Marriage isn't something to be entered into lightly," Nor is ending it!

Good advice, just in time! Or Justin Thyme, your cousin.

I’ve been with my wife for 15 years. 8 years of marriage in 2020. It is a full time commitment and not to be taken lightly.

I prefer small pipes generally speaking but sometimes I find I have better smokes with larger bowls. How do I define better, I don’t know... it just happens
