I don’t bid but I’ve never got caught out in some stupid snipes I’ve programmed over the years. I don’t know what this piece finished at but I be going to sleep with a warm glow for only $235.50 for a must have pipe.

Capris are one of those dime a dozen lines unlike the similar Corallo di Mare. I had Capris from five different lines and none were more than $50.

I wouldn’t bid $10 bucks for one but pipes are worth what someone will pay! I’m sure the bidders didn’t appreciate the action but the high bidder got what they want. I bet they finished with some money left on the table.

I suspect the main attraction was the pairing of the Capri stummel and the green pearl stem that you would normally see on an Estella pipe—this combo doesn’t turn up with great frequency (I have a Capri 131 with this configuration). That said, the sale price seems a bit out of whack, but who am I to say? I’ve been guilty of paying more than most people would deem reasonable for things I really wanted.

I had a 9004 capri with one of those stems. I'm still betting on new buyers.

I was thinking the same thing. The bidders really know they want that pipe and market value be damned. Sometimes a particular pipe just sings to you and you don't care about the price. And that's coming from a guy who has on many occasions been wowed by a pipe and then looked at the price tag and thought Dunhills are made out of sour grapes.
