Central N.C., 12:48 p.m., Thursday Feb. 13, 2014 -- snowing again. We had 3 or 4 inches yesterday that
came down fast, then freezing rain last night that coated the tree limbs, and left a crust on the snow and
ice in the ruts in the streets. Not much plowing going on here, since the equipment for this is limited, and
all devoted to main thoroughfares. The snow is dusting down again, predicted to be another two inches.
Not too much shoveling goes on, since by the weekend it will warm up and melt the mass of snow. But
everything is closed, and most people have ceased driving. We have a modest but very nice Valentine's
feast in hand (the freezer) and I have enough tobacco on hand through 2017, so all is well. The newspaper
did not arrive this a.m., and I am dubious the mail will arrive. Supposedly, I have a pipe arriving on Friday,
but I suspect it will be straggling in next week after the air traffic gets going again.
