Nothing in my post about the origin of the sandwich nor how they are loved in PA! Where's the beef??

It would seem that a submarine made in Carmel, Ca could be every bit as good as a Philly Hoagie, with the exact same ingredients, and savvy "chef". Not saying it's likely, merely possible.
No, that isn’t possible.
Sort of like ordering crab cakes in Missouri.

Seriously, you need the right bread for a traditional hoagie, and there’s just a handful of bakeries on the east coast who do it right. I did have an exceptional hoagie on Staten Island about ten years ago, perfect bread and everything, except they called it a sub. I did correct them about that.
