So the other night I stopped in at one of the local tobacconists in Portland, OR and picked up a few tins of tobacco.
Davidoff - Flake Medallions

Peterson - University Flake

Dunhill - My Mixture 965
I've had the Flake Medallions before and its a great tobacco. The other 3 I have yet to try so I'm excited to give them a go.

I found an interesting 9438, but not a GBD but a City De Luxe (GBD second). I always like the star rondell. This is a twin-bore, so I'll have to see what that is about. It appears to be in pretty good shape.

Waiting on my first Dunhill - a Red Bark diplomat 4100 (1976) from smokingpipes.com (pix to come). Also waiting on some leather dye and some Paragon wax to refinish an almost new Savinelli Florence 645 KS that I just can't stand the color of having lived with it for a bit - black with a kind of greenish undertone.

From Smoking Pipes I received my Ropp sandblasted Black Bulliard, a slender and long pipe, but it has the widest bowl out of all my other pipes, and is a real beauty. Sadly I have to leave town tomorrow, so breaking it in will have to wait, because I don't want to rush anything with this black beauty.

You gentlemen are some serious connoisseurs of tobacco! As rothnh knows, I know next to nothing about tobaccos and pipes, being something of a newcomer, but am always open to advice; currently I smoke Molto Dolce (mixed with a bit of Carter Hall to kill the tongue bite--thanks, Roth), a selection of tobaccos from Carol at Pipeworks that includes Gramercy Street, Vermont Maple, #s 191,193, and Sutcliff's Maple Street, and CAO Bella Vanilla. But I'm still looking for that magic blend, one that is cool, mild, easy on the tongue, sweet and aromatic.
By the way, I came home and discovered a nice La Rossa Piccola pocket pipe waiting for me from the post, smooth finish. I have two of these now, being handy pipes to have when you're waiting for a friend to show up at the movies, or some other brief break. These little pipes are among my finest smokers, go figure.

The mailman delivered an unexpected surprise today, a sample of Smokers Haven "Exotique". I'm enjoying it now, what a great blend (very much like MM965?)
