Ben Stiller's movies have a charm. Mystery Men is the funniest one I have seen. It's about a group of would be Superheroes with no real super powers. William Macy plays the Shoveler. He shovels well. Ben Stiller's super power is his rage. He just gets mad. Hank Azeria throws cutlery, but not knives. PeeWee Herman has gas so bad, he can knock out entire rooms and there is an Invisible Boy, a superhero who is so ignored by everyone, he thinks he can become invisible if nobody is looking. lol

Geoffrey Rush and Eddie Izzard are the villians.

RE: A Clockwork Orange

Not at all. Considered one of the all time dark comedies.

C'mon, my little droogies!

We just have different concepts of what good comedy is. While there are some hilarious bits, for me it was way too foreboding as to the future of mankind. Dark, for sure. But too much pain for me to call it a comedy. I love the film, btw.

Maniacally? That looks like possession... ?
I think chasingembers is playing with us. No one choses the movie MASH over the series for humor, maybe "artistic expression". I mean, it has it's moments of funny, but the controversy about that movie was that so many people were killing themselves right after watching it because it leaves you with a sense of absolute hopelessness.

So many: Chris Rock, Dave Chappell, Christopher Titus (if you haven't listened to him, start with Norman Rockwell is bleeding). Patrice O'Neal was brilliant in his few specials. Eddie Murphy's two specials were great, as was his time on SNL. Seinfeld naturally. South Park can occasionally be brilliant.

I love old reruns of Key & Peele, Mad TV and any segment where Norman MacDonald is a guest. If you haven't seen this one, watch it. He's a comedians comedian. What he lacks in commercial success is paled by the respect he has from most other comedians for being a genius. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is a fun insight. Jim Gaffigan is clean funny. Dry Bar Comedy on youtube has some brilliant clean comedians. Bill Cosby was brilliant in his early days. Bobby Slater is excellent.

Bill Burr is in my humble opinion, the current king of stand up. Richard Pryor remains the GOAT.

Samantha Bee, Cathy Griffin, Trevor Noah are all comedy kryptonite. You keep waiting for a laugh but they just don't come. I'm boggled by their success.

Bill Burr is easily my favourite comedian of the last 20 years, Anthony Jeselnik is right up there as well.

It is a dark violent movie but some of the dialogue & words never cease to make me laugh.
When Alex and his gang are about to fight Billy Boy and his lads.

Alex: "Ho, ho, ho! Well if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, ya eunuch jelly thou!"

And even the cat lady rape scene has some laugh out loud dialogue. When Alex sees her giant penis sculpture.

Alex:" Naughty, naughty, naughty. You filthy old soomka"

Then he starts touching it and making it rock?
What comes after is dark but the words they use, "yarbles" to describe balls for instance?.
Anthony Burgess and Stanley Kubrick combined to make an absolute classic and easily one of my favourite movies of all time.

I never really thought of A Clockwork Orange as comedy, either, but hey, whatever floats one’s boat I guess. I had to do a paper on the novel when I was in college. Despite being a very short book, it was quite an effort to get through it, mostly because of the time spent deciphering the made up slang. In any case, I found both the film and novel interesting, but not really comedic. ?‍♂️

I like all kinds of comedy from slapstick to intellectual. Lenny Bruce to Ron White. I don’t care if it’s squeaky clean or disgustingly crude so long as there is wit, cleverness, and good timing.

Not a "comedy," more a film filled with dark humour and language.

I would also mention Greg Davies, both his show Man Down and especially his comedy special You Magnificent Beast (make sure to watch thru the end).

Quite a few have already been mentioned and clearly I don't like to think much during 'comedy':

Grosse Pointe Blank, Christmas Vacation, Vacation, Office Space, Naked Gun, Airplane, Princess Bride, Pink Panther (original and the 1st Steve Martin), Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Shaun of the Dead, Madea Witness Protection, Madea Christmas, Super Troopers, and plenty of others.
Not funny bone engaging to me are things like Hangover, Borat and I'm sure plenty of others.
