That's for the uncivilized, southern New Jersey folks.
I grew up in Union County and both terms were somewhat used interchangeably, though Taylor Ham was probably more common. Didn’t know it was a north vs south thing. Guess I’ll stop using it, don’t want people to think I’m some inbred Piney or a suburb of Philly/Eagles fan.

I have fruit with whole milk yogurt almost every day for breakfast, along with a big cup of coffee.

For the first 39 years of my life, I rarely ate breakfast, and most of the time, I slept as long as I possibly could, usually grabbing a granola bar or something similar as I jetted out the door to get to where ever I had to be.

About 18 months ago, I needed to lose weight. I was never "fat" but always had a few, or more than a few, extra pounds. I was up to 240 as a 6 foot tall guy. I've never been one for crash diets. They never work, and they lead to nutritional and emotional imbalance. The way to lose weight is simply math: Less intake, more output. I had always worked out somewhat regularly, but then I amped it up and started working out 5-7 days a week, and I also changed my diet to eliminate some of the unhealthy habits I'd developed. One of the first things I changed was moving towards eating some sort of breakfast every morning, and after experimenting with what I might like that wouldn't be too heavy, I decided on yogurt and fruit.

Now, I've never been the kind of person to eat the same thing over and over again. I know a lot of people eat a simple, repetitive diet, but for me, enjoying the great variety of tastes and textures in found in our varied diets as humans is one of the greatest pleasures of life. But I now make an exception for breakfast. I have not yet tired of eating the same thing each and every morning. In fact, I've grown to crave it, and whenever we're out of either yogurt or the various fruits I mix together, I begrudgingly make scrambled eggs and toast.

I like a big American or English breakfast (mmmmm...black pudding!) as much as the next guy, but when it comes to my daily routine, I absolutely love my morning yogurt and fruit.

During the M-F work week my schedule is roughly 4am- 3 pm.
my first meal of the day is almost always around 0930, and it’s almost alway dinner leftovers.
That’s one reason I love weekends.

My favorite breakfast would be a slightly modified Ulster Fry. Eggs, bacon, tomatoes ,mushrooms, Soda bread with tons of butter, and mugs of Punjana tea with a splash of milk. At the end, more soda bread or wheaten farls with bitter marmalade.
However, for that last month I've been on a fairly strict keto diet, so the bread is gone. Down 13 lbs so far.

Eggs, sunny side up, a couple small chicken breakfast sausages, and toast with a locally made pear preserve spread.

And coffee. Can't forget the coffee. Lots of coffee. Really like the coffee, several cups too. Drinking some coffee right now, in fact. Yep, sure do love the coffee. I make sure to have a couple cups of it before I have my first official cup of coffee. Alright, I'm done now, I gotta take a dump. Well, just as soon as I finish my coffee...
Ahhhhh yes, Coffee. I was food shopping and someone left her shopping list in my cart.

It read: #1. Coffee.
#2. Stuff to have with coffee.

So I know my soul-mate, she’s out there—somewhere.

Though I have my breakfast ritual, as posted, I enjoy other versions of breakfast. In Ireland, England, and The Netherlands, I enjoyed the usual breakfast offerings, a buffet of cold cuts, fruit, and various breads and muffins. Back home, I like hot cakes, usually a short stack of three, or waffles, especially with maple syrup. Oat meal makes a good sturdy base for breakfast. And I like the standard Southern breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, fried potatoes and grits with butter and red eye gravy. When squeezed for time, I even like the McDonalds bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit with a fried potato cake and surprisingly good coffee for a fast food place.

Part of my domestic harmony arrangement is Sunday breakfast of pancakes or waffles with bacon and coffee.

Every other day of the week it's up in the air.

Oatmeal is a frequent option, as is whatever is in the "leftover" category.

Tacos from the seediest looking independent trailer I can find is usually a weekly occurrence.

On a particular busy work day, sometimes the solid food is jettisoned in exchange for the oh-so-healthy RockStar energy drink blast-off.

Out of family pride, I must mention my wife's dad, Charlie, also known as Happy as a child, who was a WWI (yes One) veteran, burdened for most of his life with poison gas ailments from being in the trenches. He was a very young soldier, like 17, and married late so was late to be a dad. As a vet, but before he married, he was in a public works program, and won a pancake eating contest sponsored by Log Cabin syrup which was carried as a news feature nationally. He was up against a whole brigade of young men who were heavy eaters, so though the size and number of flapjacks is lost to history, he did some serious ingestion of pancakes.

We are very refined!

Holy Crapskis Batgirl!! I just looked up Taylor Roll on line. WallyWorld is selling it for $40.99 a roll! Plus $11.99 shipping!
I get it for $10 or $11 at Krogers.
You can get a 6# roll for $47 elsewhere
I'm just about to slice up a new 6 pounds right now to vacuum pack and freeze.

Up early so I thought I'd get a jump on some cherry crepes.
Crepes are easy but cherry crepes take a little prep.
I reduced some Morello cherries, water, and sugar for 1/2 hour, now that's cooling. About 1/2 hour before making the crepe batter I'll take out some cream cheese to soften then mix in some cherry juice.
Spread the cheese on 1/4 of a crepe, fold twice, then cover in the reduced cherry sauce.
Cherry crepes, black coffee, and the NY Times crossword. A pleasant Sunday morning.

I am also of the camp that usually skips breakfast. A few strong cups of coffee and some pipe tobacco usually hold me over till lunch. But when I am in a breakfast mood I have a few usual favorites. Can't go wrong with a simple bacon and eggs, scrambled is fine but fried is better. Usually fried over well but sometimes I like an over easy egg.

My second go-to is a country ham, egg, and cheese biscuit. But if a good bagel shop is nearby then a lox bagel is a nice way to start the day as well. And if you've got some good gravy on hand then gravy biscuits are hard to beat as well. As you can see, I'm a big breakfast food fan, just usually not hungry at that time of day.
