By the way, I also filled out the form email on the USPS customer service webpage. I'm not holding much hope on that process. For one thing, the drop down menu of options for the content question doesn't even have a category that fits a pipe. I can;t recall all the choices, but there was one for "Check/Money Order" and one for "Documents." Not even an "Other." Maybe I should have chosen "Jewelry." So I chose "Unknown" and explained in the notes that they were tobacco pipes.

The reply I got says that its been referred to the postal inspector general for a theft investigation. No acknowledgment that it could have been a mis-delivery.
Specifically mention a GPS trace on the scan if you talk to them again.
but I bet they find it and you get it. Here’s to hoping! There is also a form called “lost parcel trace” that you can fill out but you have to physically go to the post office.

when I had a package lost - I contacted my Post Master - I found he was everything but concerned and helpful. This particular package was insured, but they still wouldn't pay - that's what has me so incredulous. I filed not one but two claims for insurance, but both were denied. I was told by the USPS that no further actions were possible. I even called my US Congressman, who contacted the department who denied my claim and he was told the same thing, no further recourse was possible. So, while they don't make many mistakes by my experience, I did find that the USPS is accountable to no one.

Hopefully by Monday, you'll have a better outcome!
Which is why the USPS needs to be completely Privatized. Where’s Lysander Spooner? Anyone? Spooner?

I have been tracking my secret santa gift (not here) and at first tracking said Tuesday, December 24, 2019. Door bell rings this afternoon (Sunday, 12-22-19) and low and behold - a day early.

All's well that ends well! I took a trip to the post office this morning and post office guy Craig went to talk with the delivery person. Delivery person said she left it in the box that we share with another business in Suite 120. Well, we don't share a box with 120. However, I asked 120 to look in their box this morning and there it was. Phew!

I assume the delivery person is new, as we've been otherwise getting mail in our box, and as far as I can tell, my package is the only piece of ours that ended up in 120's. A seasonal temp maybe?

I'm glad Steve and his clan get to keep their Xmas beef and now I have a couple of new pipes to chew for dessert!

Steve takes better pictures than I ever can so here are a couple from each of the two pipes, from his ebay listings. First, the Karsten Tarp:

I think there are a number of Danish carvers who do a curved diamond shank bulldog, but they don't seem to be that common; that shank looks like it'd be a bear to carve properly. I love the shape. My latest project is to shine up that stem!

The other pipe is a unsmoked Stanwell designed by Bjarne Neilsen. I like the brandy shape. I think I'll smoke it while I work on the Tarp stem!

Hmm, now that I think about it, that Tarp is not a curved diamond shank. It's 3 sided. My hunt for a curved diamond shank bulldog (that I can afford) continues! It's the "that I can afford" part that makes it so challenging.
