Mrs. Rookie is enthusiastic about my pipe smoking. She likes them so much better than my cigarettes, but they're isn't much she likes less than cigarettes. If I'm smoking a nice aromatic blend, or anything really without too much perique or latakia, she'll open the windows by the porch. She has bought me ounces of tobacco she likes the smell of for smoking in her car.

Granted, she'd be even happier if I had nothing to do with tobacco. But that's not going to happen, I like it in all its forms way too much.

I live by myself and don't smoke indoors whenever there is anyone over. A couple of women I date are bothered by the smoke when it blows in their direction outdoors. And I don't smoke indoors when they are going to come over, Others actually like or really like the scent (one of them smokes cigars herself) But I currently still don't smoke indoors with company present.

My wife loves the smell of all but a few blends. We do Friday night date nights almost every Friday and I always smoke Gentleman Caller she loves the room note because it reminds her of her grandfather. The only negative thing she has said is I look like an old man with my pipe in my mouth.
Let me see if I have this right.....
You and your wife do Friday date nights and she fantasizes that you are her grandfather......
Have y'all considered therapy????

I'm only kidding..... I think it great. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Might Stick Around
For a long time, 20 years or so, no problem. Recently she stopped smoking. In order to support her decision, I have moved my smoking activites to the porch. In the morning, it's fine, but now that summer is here, the afternoons are out - 110 to 120 degrees is too hot for me! There's an unused bedroom at the other end of the house. I may stick a fan in the window and call it my smoking den...

My wife was very unhappy when I started smoking earlier this year (from being a complete non-smoker).
She remains non plussed but last weekend a wonderful thing happened. She actually suggested I had a smoke if it helped to de-stress.
Whilst out walking the dog and having a rest half way, I lit up and it was clear she was a little put out that the smell wasn't repulsive.
My garage is around 20yards away from the house and if I have smoked out there, the smell at the house is fantastic, according to me. I have been avoiding smoking when she is at home at all but maybe I should change that.
Little steps. Little steps.....

If your garage is 20 yards away from the house, I'm surprised that the smoke gets in the house.
I personally don't smoke in my house. That's a hold over from when I used to do some computer repair work back in the 90s.
When I smoke at home, its either sitting under one of the trees in the yard or on the small porch area by the front door. I used to have a two car garage that I would sit in if it was raining. I now call the garage a two-car storage unit because its been taken over as storage for one of our daughters.

I can't say anything about your wife. My wife doesn't smoke either but she does like to buy me pipes for birthdays, anniversary and holidays.

My wife is a former cigarette smoker so of course now any smoke, or farts for that matter, offends her senses. I think she's just jealous and misses our talks at the end of the day over tobacco and alcohol of choice, her with wine and me with rum, rye, or smokey mezcal. I do walk through the house occasionally with a lit bowl just to mark my territory.

My wife is good with it, and often says, "aren't you going to have your afternoon pipe?" when I'm distracted by something else. She knows it is a pleasure for me, and she supports that.

My wife is a cigarette smoker so she doesn't mind. I mostly smoke outdoors and lunt about the property. In the wee hours or when it is too hot or cold I smoke in the kitchen. She sees the satisfaction I get from pipe smoking and I do my best to balance, temper and moderate between my TAD and my GAD.

Hello PA, I am sure you will find this post interesting.
Firstly my wife is an MD specialist and a professor of medicine. Now having said that, firstly I never smoke in the house because both she and I like a fresh clean smelling house. Also, I do not inhale, ever. (I gave up cigs 50 years ago). If I inhaled the pipes or cigars that would be a completely different story I can tell you. She does enjoy sitting around our outdoor fire or when we go RVing, again, outside of course and likes seeing me enjoying the hobby.
Cheers.

Can't really complain about smoking around a campfire.
