Online, even in this esteemed group, is not at all the place to seek medical information. Thread is locked. Sorry, but it's too important for your health.

I could research this on my own but it’s a pretty endless and annoying topic to deal with researching. Plus, who better to ask medical advice from than a bunch of pipes smokers /s? 😄
Seriously, at 55, I’m going through another cold I caught from my kids, I notice that whereas a cold used to last 4-5 days in my younger years, at 54, it takes 2-3 weeks to get it out of my system. It got me wondering if there are supplements that I should be taking and I’m taking about supplements that research shows are beneficial to men of my age. I know people take a lot of vitamins and supplements, the benefits of which are not clearly indicated in research - so I’m really interested in what is recommended these days by medical establishments or has some support worth taking seriously. Anyone out there on to this topic?

B3, 5000IU daily was my chest cutter's recombination Haven't had a common cold since I started a few years ago. He stated that's all anyone adhering to a normal, reasonably healthy, diet should ever need. Well, unless a deficiency has been identified by your GP. But, I live in Alaska and he said that was a consideration, lack of sunshine in the winter especially. I suggest you talk with your GP though.

I have no idea, I'm not your doctor. I know an internal medicine doctor that says a lot of times people take way too much and end up with really expensive urine.

I started taking vitamins and things when i first started Keto a couple years ago. I take, A, Super B complex, C, D3, E, Potassium, Zinc, Magnesium, not super high doses of each, i could probably take a multi vitamin and be just as well off, but i don't.

For immune support Vitamin D with Zinc.
Personally I take other things daily.
A good mushroom complex and Stinging Nettle root. I drink a greens shake with beet extract. I've gone on a quest to regain my youth and between losing 70 pounds and a regiment of supplements and alternate fasting I feel better than I have in years. And I don't get sick any more. More important than what you do eat is what you don't eat. Cut out the poisons. If it doesn't grow in the dirt or run around don't eat it. No sugar and absolutely no bread or wheat flour based stuff. It's poison. And no off the shelf prepared foods full of chemicals. I shop the meat dairy and produce sections of the market only.

You don’t need supplements, if you’re not into junk food. Your body gets what it needs by eating varied diet. Especially freshly prepared or cooked meals of any kinds of meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.

Get them from your diet, almost all (if not all) supps' are totally useless, it's a billion dollar industry though.

Two best sources, liver and eggs. Non-commercial. That goes for fruits and vegetables as well. Non-commercial.

I take a packet of emergen-c, 5 grams of creapure creatine, and 25 grams of protein supplemental every day.

Even on a balanced diet, it’s likely someone won’t hit all of their targets unless you have an unlimited calorie cap.

I take a multivitamin and a fish oil supplement daily, probably don't need them but it also isn't hurting anything taking them.

Yep, have a physical, get proper bloodwork, talk to your doctor - just taking supplements based on experiences which could never be shown to be apples to apples with your particular physical/mental makeup is a waste of money and time.

I eat pretty healthy food these date and I’m thinner than I was: my wife cooks healthy food and can make any kind of delicious food as well. I do still snack sometimes, though not exactly on junk food. It’s a nervous habit from stress. I’m much thinner than I was though. I’d like to exercise more. My wife makes a very balanced diet for myself and the kids. After we got married and had the kids, she got really into cooking.

I shall do it this year. I get a deal through work but I still have to pay and we’ve been short this year. I am on meds already for migraines; I do need blood work soon. At one point I was told that I’m slightly anemic but not the iron-deficiency kind.

Sorry for the circumstances, but can't stress enough seeing your doc annually for preventive reasons - speaking from positive experiences - so many things can be dealt with or nipped in the bud. We occasionally have a traveling clinic for heart testing and diagnosis that comes around the area, things like that can be a great source of help and usually free or greatly reduced rates. Even basic blood panels if you aren't getting a chest X-ray and urine analysis can be found pretty cheaply but I'm sure a lot of that depends on where you live and health care delivery or lack thereof.
