I play the ukulele the most, because I can travel with it easier, but I also play the banjo, banjolele, and the guitar. My wife plays piano, fiddle, and a little guitar. My kids all also have their instruments.

But, my wife hails from Western North Carolina, the family of Bascom Lamar Lunsford. So, family get togethers with her family is always a round the clock musical event. Bluegrass, gospel, and folk.

Actually I play guitar and mouth harp. I played blues harp in college but I turned 50 and didn't want to go in the dirt without knowing how to play guitar. I am 9 years into practicing 3-5+ hours a week. Found out I do a have "some" talent.

This time of year with the leaves changing, sitting on the back deck playing guitar with the dog puffin' on some Va Flakes. Yes please...

I picked up my first stringed musical instrument at 45, when I wanted something to do with my hands while I was quitting cigarettes. As soon as I realized how chords, fingerstyles, and the keys of songs worked, I found it easy to just jump in with other people, even when I didn't know the songs. I'm not sure if it is talent or just a systematic pretending to know the songs, ha ha.
But, what amazes me is my wife on the fiddle. It doesn't have frets, and she plays by ear. She can actually jump in with anyone, in any style of music and hang with them. However, if you ask her about keys, notes, or anything about music, she won't have a clue. Those Lunsfords are born with music coursing through their veins.

My strumming/picking hand is my weakness. My left is pretty good. My right holds me back.

Often I will just hit random tunes and start to play along. Grand Funk, Stones and then Son Volt and Bob Dylan. It's all fun.
