I really don't like silence.
Over the years I've really come to appreciate ambient sound. It uses no electricity and never repeats. I think I get it from practicing meditation. There really IS music all around us in birds, wind blowing tree leaves, bugs whizzing about, and the ever popular cars driving by. I've been listening to my wind chimes when I am on the porch smoking and it really relaxes me. "Silence is golden" they say and I somewhat believe it. I can't have music blaring when I drive because I can't concentrate. Weird. A musician friend of mine told me I compose many songs with a lot of negative space (silence) and that makes sense. However, I do love a good wall of noise on occasion! Eastern music has had a big impact on me.
