I'm listening to in my humble opinion, which to be honest doesn't mean much these days, Pink Floyd's greatest album, The Wall. Oh, I like most all of their music, but this just ticks all the boxes for me. The vinyl is an import from about 1980 and the UDCD discs are from about 1991. I'm not saying which I prefer because that's a fools errand, and will lead to some stupid debates. Let's just say they're both great but in different ways.

I've posted this before, a few years ago, but with all this recent talk of Johnny Hartman here, I wanted to share this again. It is Johnny performing one of my favorite songs, live on Sammy Davis Jr.'s TV show in 1966. We also get a glimpse of the multi-talented host on vibes.
Hank Jones is on piano and Milt Hinton on bass.

Anyone remember Leslie West ?
Remember?!?! Leslie is one of the most melodic players ever. I learned left hand, wrist vibrato by listening/watching Leslie West. There's a video somewhere in the depths of the internet where Leslie is being interviewed & he describes the motion as opening a doorknob. That simple insight was life changing. RIP Leslie West, those who know KNOW.
