Not sure why I'm admitting this but I'm on a reinvigorated Jewel kick. May be that Alaska grit backing that's sending it home. I'm late to the show making the connection to atz kilcher... love the last frontier.

I'm not Greek, (half Appalachian, half Punjabi), but I enjoy many older Greek songs, this one's lyrics could be considered sad, but I enjoy listening to it, especially after finishing a work shift. Perhaps @Christos D. Tsatsaronis knows this song and could recommend some more:

Hi friend, glad you like it!
STELIOS Kazantzidis was one of a kind (everybody calls him with his first name).
Here's one more, Vasilis Tsitsanis - composer and plays bouzouki here, Sotiria Mpellou: singing:

Stelios Kazantzidis was one of the major musicians who helped usher in the Laiko style of Greek music. This "music of the people" was built upon the Rembetiko style of music from the 1930s. Rembetika are songs that can very loosely be compared to American Blues. It is music that is rich in tradition, an amalgam of many influences. If you like the music you posted, I would urge you to "go to the roots" and explore a series of albums that trace the history of this form entiled, "Rembetika Songs of the Greek Underground 1925-1947" that highlight the early recordings of the truly great artists of this music. (It's available on YouTube.)

Much of the rest of my month will be with Holiday Traditions channel playing on SXM. Great classics all day, every day.

Featuring traditional holiday music from the '40s through the '60s by artists such as Andy Williams, Ray Conniff, Bing Crosby and Nat “King” Cole.
