French female pop singer bug bit me. Yeah, April March is American, but she did paint storyboards for Ren and Stimpy and is bad ass.

Not French, that I know of, but a classic style, soothing and lovely.

I’ve had the very same album for years and also the sheet music as I used to play flute. Rampal was one of the greatest flutists of all times and I went to see him twice at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. Claude Bolling wrote some great music but Rampal certainly wasn’t known for performing jazz and wasn’t really all that adept at improvising on it. But, when it came to classical music he won hands down.
Listening to some old (The) Pentangle from the 1968 album ‘Sweet Child’. I always loved the purity of Jacqui McShee’s voice and the amazing guitar playing of Bert Jansch who passed away much too early.

@Phil67: I agree Rampal wasn't the first name in jazz flautists, which is why this caught my attention back in the mid-70's. Was in a small record shop in San Francisco and this was playing, and I just had to have it. I hsd been an admirer of Rampal's in the classical realm and was just blown away with this. Bolling, of course, was such a renown jazz pianist that my (ex) wife (a pianist herself) immediately recognized his work and we each, for different reasons, almost simultaneously said, "We've got to get this!" Has been a favorite of mine ever since!
Nice to find a fellow aficionado!!!

@Beefeater33: The Kinks were an underappreciated band! I think they could have had as much of an influence on American music as the Beatles or the Rolling Stones had things turned out a little different.

Checotah--- Agreed. The Kinks never really got their due here in the states, I think Ray's songwriting is top shelf, Lennon/mcCartney wise.......... My personal all time favorite kinks album is Face to Face, from 1966..... listen to it through-out, its as fresh and relevant as anything..... great stuff!!...... :puffy:

Cosmic - Heard Sympathique back in the day along with Lounge Lizards and a few others I'm still looking for. I like China's voice. Nothing recent, but checking it out now. Thanks for the heads up. :)
Beefeater - Sunny Afternoon is one of my all time favorite songs. I don't know any musicians my age worth their salt who don't love The Kinks!!

Saw Alex Chilton cover that song about 25 years ago in a club in Oxford. Great song and great cover by a great artist.

Just picked up the RSD release of Allen Toussaint's "Live in Philadelphia 1975". A damn shame he is no longer with us. :crying:

Just discovered this underground horror rapper Jak Progresso/Jak Tripper, this shit is off the charts disturbing, I love it, it combines serial killing with rap.
