Exactly. I pulled that out at Boswell's, got some weird looks, never used it again. It does sort of look like a weird pry bar for some obscure "adult" toy thing.

Me too. I have one like this and one made with the lid of a mason jar. Neither are practical at all and quickly hit the back of a drawer.Without a doubt, this Tobacco disc made of Rosewood heartwood, Snakewood and Wooly Mammoth tusk.
It's really cool, very well built by a master artisan, and DD gorgeous, but it's too thick for my pocket, doesn't hold much tobacco and was $$$$. I have never used it.

I have the same style lighter and use it all the time. It has a nice feel to it and functions great. I would put it to use but that's just me.
I would LOVE to have one but won't pony up the money for it...I have a Laguiole cigar knife…lovely item
Yikes. There was a member here who wanted to carve a tamper out of a human metatarsal bone. Apparently you can just buy those legally. ...
I think that's why some guys swear by matches, because they've been burned (no pun intended) by lighters before. My advise, for what it's worth, is spend your money on good pipes and buy cheap lighters.
I've got the one with the pipe shapes to use but Old Boys are mostly useless outdoors. The Beattie has made all my other lighters obsolete.I have the same style lighter and use it all the time. It has a nice feel to it and functions great. I would put it to use but that's just me.
I'd advise buying good tobacco to cellar, very good pipes to enjoy, and a fine lighter to top it off. To each his own. What Is Your Most Rediculous Piece Of Kit?
You tell me...

But seriously, The worst thing you can spend your money on is an expensive lighter. I don't care who made it or how much it cost, give it time and it'll let you down. My advise, for what it's worth, is spend your money on good pipes and buy cheap lighters.
Or Mrs. Bobbitt used a steam iron instead of a cutting utensil....OUCH!!!!Lots of good responses, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who did a double take on that tamper Al!
