Title edited for caps (Rule 9) and "Lighter" subbed for "weapons" as we have a lot of firearms fans.

Gentlemen,

I am curious what types of lighters you are all using for firing up your tobacco.

For me, nothing beats the scent of a Zippo so I use a Zippo Pipe Lighter. I remember my great grandfather who was born in the 1800’s used long matches.

So with that being said what is your weapon of choice?

I’m still trying to figure out what my go-to will be. I have been using bic-style short pipe lighters (the ones by clipper), but I also got a zippo pipe lighter that I’ve been fooling around with. I didn’t like the zippo at first as it wasn’t getting to the edges of the bowl, but it seems that I’ve been learning how to use it more effectively and so it’s growing on me. I just ordered the butane version of the zippo insert, I’ll see if that is any better (I do notice a touch of the zippo liquid fuel aroma even after letting it burn off).

I forgot the clipper lighters, which is what I use the most at home, and the matches, they are not my favorite, aesthetically, but for their convenience. The Zippo I use it more in cold climates or season, because in summer, here in southern Spain, the fuel would last very little, due to the very hot climate. The Kibiri and the zippo, I use them more when I travel, or I am out of home.

Currently a Zippo because it was handy and all my bics died and I haven't replaced them. Matches are good but inconvenient for several reasons. Someday I may acquire one of those vintage Beattie's. I was using a Djeep but was surprised it didn't last as long as a Bic and the striker was harder to operate than Bic (stiffer).
