Im not a fan of the grabow fishtail. The ropp fishtailon my student was OK.

But the whole shape of the clip makes me smile. If the combination editing that exact profile of p lip with a center hole,

Every one would want it.

I think people are just afraid the air channel in the stem and how it interferes with piquant fancy smoking techniques o. You tube videos

I have 97 Petes in collection now (80+ are in rotation) - 42 FTs, 55 P-lips. Both companies - some are better, some are worse. I have acrylic P-lips with horrible shape (Barley Deluxe 20s, i.e.) and great slim vulcanite FTs (Barley spigot 606, i.e.) as well as versa. Dracula and Newgrange witth acrylic spigots FT are good enough, while Juniors acrylic FTs are most awful thing I put into my mouth. But, after more than hundred of Petes I used, I can say - quality of P-Lips is more stable and predictable than FTs.

If not already said. One of the brand`s main characteristics is the P-Lip. Most people associate a Peterson pipe with it.
Conclusion: They are going back and promoting the antique, old-fashioned, good Ol' Peterson style pipes. At least, that is my understanding.

As I posted on the "Show off your Petersons here" thread......
This is my new 2025 Halloween 312.
It's lit, loaded, and fully suspended over the rim of this glass, by ONLY it's inferior ridge under this absolutely smooth and comfortable P-lip. I love them.
And, the new ones are apparently interchangeable between models such as the 314 & 312, possibly others. For me, that means the shorter stems allow the larger models to hang the same as the smaller ones; no "rolling" due to the feeling of extra leverage from being suspended further away.
The new 312's are my new 314's. And as I have over a dozen 314's, that's significant for me.
Cheers.

That might be construed by some as mildly racist. Do Petersons come with whiskey so you can get a good buzz going on the way down to the pub?

See, us Jews know better than to design pipes. Who wants to smoke something that literally kvetches at you while you're trying to get the charring light?

🤭
And a pipe that you can’t light from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.

I have a majority of PLip Petersons, I think I may have only about 5 that is F/T, personally I like PLips, definitely on pipes that clench well or jaw hangers, I do wish that Peterson would actually cut the shelf on todays PLips better they are wayyyyy to shallow for my liking especially with clenchers , The F/Ts I have are great smokers and in no way shape or form do I dislike them, it all depends on the time in which I want to smoke as a lot of my pipes are dedicated to a profile and style of blend if not dedicated to one particular blend.

This is a tangential line of thinking.

The P-Lip is the greatest invention since gunpowder.

Peterson fishtails were not designed for humans. They have the size and width of a tongue depressor. Maybe puffer fish enjoy them.

I specifically look for Petersons with PLips. If they have fishtails I keep scrolling.

If I want an even worse smoking experience I’ll buy a Savinelli. They have fishtails exclusively. In fact they often come with olive oil so they slide into the trash easier.

Ive been really enjoying my Petersons with plips. Im looking into a deluxe model Peterson now. As far as the acrylic plip, how do these differ to a system standard plip? Just the bit itself. Is the quality that much better in the deluxe?

Not so. Savinelli have their own take on the Peterson System pipe called the Dry System Pipe. They have a p-lip style stem. No idea what they're like as I don't own one.

1. The large smokehole on the top of the mouthpiece allows the smoke to leave in an even spread, and not directly onto the tongue; its size makes it easy to clean and spreads the flavour in the mouth. Its position makes it difficult for juices to enter the stem from the mouth.
2. The Bent stem ensures that the pipe is very light on the teeth;
3. The use of the optional balsa insert mops up any excess moisture without changing the taste;
4. The firm-fitting peg mouthpiece won't twist off in the pocket;
5. The metal band prevents the shank from swelling and cracking if there is too much moisture in the trap, (for example, if the balsa is not used);
6. It has a built-in moisture trap.
That chamber is so tiny and pointy. Was they using a garden gnomes hat for a drill bit?

I really like my Deluxe & Premier systems. I think that they actually are a little "better". As far as the P-lip, if you're comparing current Laudisi era, I have found they are all similar between the lines. It's the old ones vs new ones that have the big differences........

A system pipe is not truly a system pipe without the graduated bore and a Peterson lip.

I suppose all you weirdos prefer acrylic to vulcanite too🤣
We weirdo’s love acrylic stems. How many of you have purchased estate pipes where the vulcanite stems have been over buffed to the point that your teeth break through the stem. Over buffing would not be a problem with an acrylic stem….no need! All this rain must be softening your head.
