From this picture , it does not look like the one I know from Germany, with cube cut burley and large chunks of flakes.Makhuwa is a neat blend.
Ive been playing with it for several days now. Ive tried it straight from the tin and with 12,24,36 & 48 hours of dry time. So far 24 hours dry time
Is about where I want it at for smoking. I pick up on the Virginias, Perique and Burley and they get along very well. It has a slight Chocolate Tin note and hints of Chocolate while smoking but it’s not in your face. It’s a clean burning and tasting blend without any bite and medium nic content.
Honestly I’d call it a ribbon cut Bob’s Chocolate Lite without the Latakia.View attachment 351423
I've tried all three and there's little in common between them. Now that HU Blends are readily available in the US how does it compare to OJK and Haunted Bookshop Cake ? C&D Blends are getting pricey. Would like to hear the opinions out there.
That is my take as well. It reminded me of Mac Baren's 2024 London Burley blend.Doesn't remind me at all of OJK or HB/Peg, its like a cocoa topped Euro Burley blend.
SInce its hard to get Bobs thats why I often add latakia to it.Makhuwa is a neat blend.

Any of the HU products are going to present a difference from C&D for a variety of reasons, not least the sourcing of the leaf, which is otherwise known as "empire" leaf, Virginias grown in parts of Africa and India. These tend to have bolder flavors, which for me is a plus.I've tried all three and there's little in common between them.
@sablebrush52 will say that old Makhuwa was like a chocolate milkshake, I'd only had the new one which was a very pleasant , fairly light but not thin/weak taste and pretty good chocolate taste - a taste that's pretty damn hard to do well in tobacco if it's not a natural flavour coming out of the burley.
I'm purely impure. Are there any purists?
