Mac Baren Danish Mixture and Original Choices are supposedly "traditional danish" type blends. Good tobacco in both, but the oriignal choice flavoring and humectant level is more "captain black". Danish mixture is about 50% less on humectants and flavoring, and smokes completely different.

So just what is constituting "danish"

As I've been able to suss out, "Danish" means a light cocoa or chocolate top note are present, but not to the level of full-on goopy American-style aromatic topping.

Traditionally Denmark has been the pipe smoking capital of the world, so maybe it is more of a pride thing than a really specific flavour profile?

It’s sort of like the old Folger’s “Mountain Grown” coffee ad:

Housewife: “But Mrs. Olsen, What does Mountain Grown mean”

Mrs Olsen: “It means it was grown on a fucking mountain, you stupid cow”
What's Mrs. Olsen been putting in her coffee?
