What is Danish tobacco exactly

Mac Baren Danish Mixture and Original Choices are supposedly "traditional danish" type blends. Good tobacco in both, but the oriignal choice flavoring and humectant level is more "captain black". Danish mixture is about 50% less on humectants and flavoring, and smokes completely different.

So just what is constituting "danish"

As I've been able to suss out, "Danish" means a light cocoa or chocolate top note are present, but not to the level of full-on goopy American-style aromatic topping.

Interestingly enough, I learned earlier today that what we think of as a "Danish" pastry is called "wienerbrød" (Viennese bread) in Denmark, as it were brought to the country by Austrian-trained bakers in the 19th century.

I used to say that Denmark was the place where British blends go to die, but with STG’s recent elimination of Sutliff’s blends, as well as most of MacBaren’s blends, I’d say that it’s a killing field.

Traditionally Denmark has been the pipe smoking capital of the world, so maybe it is more of a pride thing than a really specific flavour profile?

I've always seen "Danish style" billed as a "tobacco-forward, lightly flavored aromatic".

i couldnt call the original coice, or peter stokebye ribbon or cube blend to be lightly flavored at all.

Can't really find a better answer then ts tobacco manufactured in Denmark. Unfortunately it may cease to exist by 2035 due to new laws in Denmark. Here is a nice history of tobacco in Denmark from a cigar viewpoint :

Saying it is a milder less aromatic tobacco forward type of blending is fairly accurate per the internet.
