The Lower Forty of Hill Country
"What Does Santa Claus Really Smoke?"
This question is asked and answered in Chapter Three (Christmas Tobacco) of Richard Carleton Hacker's book titled "The Christmas Pipe - A Collector's Celebration of Pipe Smoking at Yuletide":
"Still, in a chapter such as this, the obvious question must eventually be asked, "What pipe tobacco blend does Santa Clause smoke?" It is a question for which, thankfully, I have the answer. I found it nestled between the covers of the rare December 1948 issue of the no-longer published "Pipe Lovers" magazine. I must point out that in no book other than "The Christmas Pipe" are you likely to find this sort of information! Here then, for the first time is what has been purported to be Santa's very own pipe blend:

4 oz. Latakia

2 oz. Perique

3 oz. North Carolina

2 oz. Burley

2 oz. Virginia Flake..."

I think Mr. C (as I call him) is pretty much a pipe smoker like most of us here on the forums, always trying new blends, but with a few favorites that he always keeps on hand, and tries his hand at some blends of his own. Like many of us, this time of year he likes to smoke a few Christmas blends, McClelland Christmas Cheer is one he keeps on hand and likely recently opened a tin of '92 Christmas Cheer. I'm certain he has a few aromatic Christmas blends on hand to enjoy when he and Mrs. Clause are curled up in front of the fire with hot cocoa with marshmallows and whipped cream with sprinkles of peppermint candy. Throughout the year, as he supervises his elves as they work just as hard as Santa himself, he probably smokes a good balkan blend, and occasionally perhaps a navy blend, sharing a pipe with the hard working elves during break time. I bet his last pipe of the night on Christmas Eve as he's driving the sleigh into the stable and handling the reindeer is likely a sweet smelling aromatic, so Mrs. Clause smells the aroma in his beard when she gives him a big hug upon his safe return.

With his toy manufacturing, large elfin labor force, and heavy travel schedule, I think Santa must be a moderate smoker, but when he settles into his wingback chair after a hard day's work, I think he has a vast cellar in a snow cave somewhere. Since he has many millions of people currying favor, I presume he has an almost infinite variety of blends, maybe not quite as wide as jiminks or peck, but vast, and from all over the world. The well-deserved smokes assure he attains full enjoyment. As with many Forums members, he goes with ample facial hair and a complementary beverage.
