I think I quit cigarettes when I was six years old, after pilfering them from my buddy's dad. I enjoyed Hav'a'Tampa cigars with the wooden bit in college and the military, as a now and then treat. I had a similar occasional premium cigars over the years. But mostly, when I'v smoked, it's been pipes.

I used to smoke cigarettes as well but quit them using vapes. I dropped pipes for a short while too to get off cigs. After a month of not smoking cigs, I tried one. I positively hated it and have had no desire for one since which was odd since I used to just crave them. I crave my pipe but not in the addiction way I did with cigarettes. I crave the peace and solitude I get with my pipe.

I started with cigars 25 years ago or so, then gradually incorporated pipes. These days it's all pipes for me. Cigars are extremely rare now. I just get more enjoyment out of pipes and pipe tobacco. On a weird side note, I also roll my own cigarillos (?) using pipe tobacco. If I want a 15 minute smoke with my coffee in the morning, and that's all I have time for, I just have one of those.

I switch back and forth between pipes and cigars depending on my mood, but mostly pipes. I smoke cigarettes here and there, usually when I’m drinking but I try to keep that to a minimum. I also like the occasional nasal snuff and chewing tobacco.

The nicotine content of cigars is something that I've been meaning to look into [Did not know that nicotine deteriorates/weakens with age - or does that have more to do with a change in pH levels?]
My guess would be oxidation (that's what degrades the nicotine in vape juice)

I vape to get through work without catching any charges. Cigars for me are very occasional. Like maybe a few a year. I smoke my pipe(s) daily along with my other pipes for the other leaf.

I use the 1 1/4 Zig Zag papers, just like a person would use to roll their own cigarettes, and a zig zag rolling machine (the two rollers with the plastic in between) to roll them. I also use the "Raw" brand tips. Works like a charm. They look just like a rolled cigarette and smoke surprisingly well this way. I use a straight Virginia when rolling these. I have to cut the tobacco a little bit to make it finer so it rolls up more consistently. Lately I've been using Ashton Gold Rush for these. Aromatics don't work as well in this format from what I've tried so far. English blends will work, but you will lose much of the complexity in the blend smoking them this way. VA's definitely work the best.

I'm also still experimenting with different aromatics to try and find one that works well. Haven't tried a VApr yet, but that's on my to do list.

Pipes daily, cigars (typically) weekly, and the odd cigarette when I'm on vacation or visiting friends back home. Always regret the latter as I'm hacking up a lung the next day.

Vapes are another excellent alternative to get off the dreaded cigarettes.
Had I been aware of vapes back when I quit [once and for all] I may well have gone that route.

Glad I didn't though; I love puffing on my pipes.
Being free from the addiction was huge for me. The difference is so wide that I would not classify my pipe smoking as an addiction but rather, an enjoyable habit [Since I no longer crave]

What you describe ["peace and solitude"] is what I see as a type of meditation, which is a very beneficial practice.

Quit rollies 10+ years ago now and vape for a daily fix. Really don’t like cigs at all now!
Occasional pipe, probably 3 or 4 bowls per week, and a less frequent cigar (which is a shame as I adore them). It’s probably for the best, financially and health wise, given the choice I’d be puffing on something constantly ?

I have the occasional cigar. I'm a fan of Hav-a-Tampa with the wood tip on those occasions. Otherwise I've been smoking a pipe nearly exclusively for26 years. I've dabbled with snuff and snus too. Never got into chew or dip, I found the spitting off putting.

As for smoking cigarettes I suppose I quit those when I was 16. Originally it was to save money but I found the pipe simply more enjoyable.

Just pipe and cigars for me. I have a humidor and stock up when their on sale. Probably 5 or 6 cigars a month and a pipe everyday. Cigars are nice when you don’t want to work too hard and just sit back chat drink and relax. My cigars are much more social while my pipe is more my time to contemplate and relax while I pay attention to my tobacco and all the flavour profiles going on.
