I sell parts for trucks , heavy equipment , and oil field support . Iam the guy they call when it all goes to heck and a hand basket .My phone never sleeps . I spent time in the Navy . Can run and repair heavy equipment and paving machines , as well as cranes . About 12 years ago my back had enough of such fun , so now I run all over Houston and east Texas selling stuff . I also consult for fabrication projects as well as export projects . Last year I drove over 60 thousand miles doing sales calls . I have always been mechanically inclined and curious as to how things work and what parts are needed to make them work . I know lots of useless stuff like how much pressure and volume a pipe or hose can handle .How far cable stretches under load .Chain sizes etc ,etc . A fun game I like to play when someone calls me across town ,is take a quick look at the project and say I know what you need , give me a PO how fast do you need it . I love my job . :D

Great thread.
I do nothing. I go to this place that I shall call "Work", and have people tell me what they want, how they want it and when they want it. I also create projects for myself that never get done, and have a tendency to keep my desks (yes. I have more than one) very "messy". I think of it more like strata of the Earth's crust. Two weeks ago? Let's see.... Ah about 3 inches down. There you are.... I'm also a full-time (read: 24/7/365... 366 for leap years) dad and husband, which is a job that doesn't pay anything, but the benefits are stellar. You're welcome, human race. I've done my part. When I grow up, I want to retire and sit at home. Napping and watching movies/TV.

I'm in the Plumber/Pipefitters Union Local 525 here in Vegas. Right now I'm starting my 5th and final year of my apprenticeship. As of now I work with both plumbing and pipefitting. Plumbers work on your toilets, shower/sink drains, and storm drains whereas pipefitters work mostly on the heating, venting, air conditioning. Don't mind doing either, but I prefer working with the fitters and welders. We mostly work on commercial jobs like casinos and high rise condo towers etc. .

I'm currently paying the bills as a 3rd shift security guard at a retirement home in Titusville, FL. It's actually pretty cool, as it doesn't involve doing much of anything but reading, smoking pipes, and perusing the forum on here. Occasionally I get to round up some old folk but mostly they stay asleep till I get off work, and then they're in bed by the time I come back in.
But what I DO is actually saving up to buy and renovate a big ol' box truck to live in with my wife and pups and run off veggie oil traveling the continent helping reconnect the church here in the gluttony of wealth with the poor of their cities so we can live what we preach. Meanwhile, we'll make money off busking (street perfomance) as we used to when we first got married. Though that was in Central America... I'm still excited to see how much fun it'll be doing that here in the US what will the law and such. Yeah... you can all laugh at me now.

I idle my time away for 8 hours/day in front of a computer, pretending to be an IT systems expert.

I raise a glass and salute lordofthepiperings! Plumbers are the unsung heros of everyday life. Seriously, Indoor plumbing is no doubt the greatest invention of the last 200 years and none of us are thankful for it until it stops working.

I'm a landscape and wildlife photographer. I was involved in the IT, specifically Internet, sector for a good 16 years so I still run a number of web sites and still meddle in various other IT things. I bore easily so I do a lot of different things to keep life interesting and to make money from different pots.

Work for a camera manufacturer as their professional business support contact. I'm the person that helps companies and pro photographers make sure they have the kit they need for the pictures they take.
Fantastic job and I get to work with the latest and greatest camera kit :)
