Yesterday I spent the whole day cleaning my fiance's house that we're moving in to eventually. After her grandma passed away they rented it out to a friend and he stayed there up until last week. Now he has a new house, and since the house is in my fiance and her mom's names we're looking to fix it up and move in for our first house together. It was a lot of work though cleaning the walls and scraping that popcorn crap they spray on off of the ceiling. We still have to scrape one more ceiling and take off wall paper in three other rooms and loads more. But I'm excited about all of it. I can't wait to have my own designated smoking spot outside.

Missed posting all weekend but its a busy time for me and I may not catch up.
Met with about 100 folks Saturday morning, split up in teams, and headed out to some hard hit areas to help those whose homes were destroyed. Took both my sons because they needed to do something besides sleep late and play Xbox all day. We helped clean up most of a home that a tornado had blasted all over a hillside. No one in the family of four was injured and they were grateful for our help. They all had a great attitude about what was important and was ready to move forward.

We got to come home to a house still there, with power, clean water, and a home cooked meal that my wife prepared. I had a few cold beers after dinner, smoked a couple of pipes and headed off to bed. As I was drifting off to sleep, my soul felt satisfied and the images of the day filled me with thankfulness of all that I have.

Not a whole bunch. Sat and enjoyed a good book with a couple pipes accompanied by Glenn Miller.

@baskerville59:
I did some volunteer Tornado clean up in Phill Campbell, Alabama. That town was pretty much wiped off the map a week ago today.
I wish there was as much visibility for all those affected by the tornadoes as there is/was for the Japan disasters. Glad to see folks out there doing what they can!

After work I cleaned my car. Having a white dog who sheds like a snow blower means noticeable hair everywhere and it hasn't been vacuumed out since January. Last week I drove over to this store we have called Bargains In A Box which is a clearance store and they have the $19.00 paste wax for $4 without the applicator. I got like $100 worth of car stuff for $14 or so, so today broke out the Turtle Wax Ice Interior and gave the plastic/rubber the once over before waxing it. Turtle Wax Ice is the greatest thing to happen to car waxing ever! Then I drove to get gas and enjoy my clean car and tonight I put labels on bottles.

I ain't done nothing today,...yet!

"Clean out the garage" is the plan for the day. I'd take a picture but it'd be humiliating.

A belated happy birthday to Hobie.
Knowing I have a very quiet couple of days at work this week, I decided rather than open up for the rest of the week, I'll just forward the phones to home, and spend the time with my smokers (I have a couple of Bradley commercial units from my old business). This run should be enough to get me through summer - although with three weddings in July alone, I may need to get back at the goodies.
On the menu for the next couple of days:

-50lbs of chinook, to be hot-smoked; 25lbs into maple nuggets, 25lbs into hot/sweet nuggets

-15lbs sockeye fillets, to be cold-smoked (lox)

-15lbs sablefish, to be hot-smoked whole/bfly

-25lbs rainbow-trout, to be peppered/hot-smoked

-5lbs Blue Marlin, to be hot-smoked

-5lbs pacific octopus, to be hot-smoked (sounds odd, I know, but its frigging amazing)

-5lbs conger eel, to be hot-smoked
One bonus to running my smokers is that I can burn even the strongest lat-bombs with no complaints; aromatic cedar and maple wood smoke masks just about anything.
