I started a Meerschaum coloring experiment a few months ago to see how a cigar holder would color. My hypothesis was it would color more vivid and quickly because of two reasons

1. The carbon cake in the chamber of a pipe hampers in the coloring
2. The amount of tobacco smoked in a cigar is way more than a pipe, so more
tar and other chemicals which will help color faster

The maximum number of cigars I have smoked through one of these is 37. The one I am using today has been only used 11 times but it gets to smoke big fat cigars

The tiny one does not see much use and have been used only 4 times.

Thanks for sharing! They’re coloring nicely!

A year ago I bought a My Father The Judge, and decided to smoke it today.

It started off peppery, as some have said; settled down a little after the first inch, but still has some. It isn’t a bad cigar at all, but too peppery for my liking. Maybe it's the nicotine talking, but I do like the flavor development in the second half, though.

Great day to be in the Northwoods. Any particular reason you picked today to smoke that?

Today, Micallef Migdalia SE. I bought a bunch of these as well as the Migdalia Petite Corona on super sale. I've smoked a few and found them acidic-tart tasting (is this the Sumatra binder?). Today, after about 6 months humi time, they are wonderfully lemony-nutty.

It’s been a busy, eventful week, and I wanted to try something new (to me). I’ve never had a My Father before, partly because I heard the “pepper bomb” description after buying this one. Even though too peppery for me, it was a nice cigar: easy draw, good chocolate notes, and it didn’t wind up with the usual Nicaraguan flavor so many others do.

It was a nice day up here today: sunny, crisp (40s), and I spent the day resurfacing the driveway with the neighbor: the last big outdoor project before winter. I’ll find something suitably celebratory for that!
