What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Does anyone else go right for the cigars they're least excited for when they get a sampler? Got a few Cain and Oliva cigars as part of a sampler, and I went right for this Oliva Connecticut Reserve Churchill. I had one years ago, and didn't care for it, but so far this one is pretty decent! The police helicopter above me repeating their message for a wanted suspect is killing my zen. I really think if they're going to do that, they need to say what he's wanted for. Murder, sure, I'll keep my eyes out. Selling dope, and running from the cops? Don't disrupt my cigar time for that nonsense.

I got two of those in samplers a year ago, and smoked the first one shortly afterward. It was ok, best CT I'd had at that point, but a little too bland for me. CTs taste much better to me nowadays, so I want to try the other one soon and see whether my first impression was correct.

I do the opposite, actually. I never know which day will be my last, so I smoke whatever I want if it's ready to go. As a matter of fact, I have a Rocky Patel and Alec Bradley from a CRA sampler and I don't know if I'll ever smoke them. Both are apparently high-dollar offerings compared to most of their other stuff, but I've had almost nothing but garbage from both labels, so I wrote them off years ago.

And, wow - gotta love city living. I remember dealing with crap like that when I lived in Detroit. Now, it's so quiet where we live, you can hear a chipmunk fart.

Off to the post office with some packages for a few folks and a stick for the journey. These are always tasty.

Same for me. My wife told me that after my funeral, she's throwing away whatever cigars are left. Since I don't know when that day will come, and since it would be a shame to leave behind any of the ones I really want to try, I smoke whatever cigar looks good to me at the moment. Enjoy them while you can!

The one I had last night stayed pleasant all the way through, though it never seemed to stray far from the same creamy, nutty, toasty core flavors...

I tried to smoke a Cain Daytona tonight that came with my sampler. Draw was so tight, I pitched it before I could take a photo. Always easier to do with a cheaper cigar, but still frustrating.

I'm enjoying the color as long as I can! The leaves will all be down soon, and it'll be all bare trees and snow, and 6 months of bad smoking weather.

Olivas (and Padrons, for that matter) are nice known-quanitity cigars: you know what you're going to get, no surprises. That's a nice thing when it suits you, and it's why I always keep some Serie O on hand.

The only Cain I've enjoyed--and the only Nub, for that matter--is the Cain Nub Habano. All the other Nubs were too bland for me, but the Cain Nub Habano is very tasty and pleasant. I keep those on hand too, because I always know what I'm going to get with them: no surprises, no drama, just good quality and a pleasant experience.
