Visited a B&M in Miami for some local cigars. I got one and promised the owner that if I like it, will come back for more.
This shop is very expensive- specially because I am used to online prices. However I wanted to try out an Opus X, and they had one, so I paid a lot to take one back home.
I haven't had an Opus X in a very long time. Years ago, they were plagued by very tight draws. I didn't find them worth the high cost, especially when there are so many tasty cigars available at a fraction of the price.

I've always liked Opus X. They are very "old world," however in that they have a tighter draw like most Cuban cigars do, and they require appreciable aging (5+ years) before they lose their overtly earthy nature and the true profile begins to open up. Shame they jacked the prices yet again - they were already at about my maximum price, so I guess after I get through this box and handful of singles I have, it's back to the Añejo. I like the Dominican wrapper better on the Opus, but the binder and filler are the same/incredibly similar.

I smoked that hand rolled Maduro in my photo today and it knocked me out. I never smoked anything so potent. No pipe so far, his other two were mild in comparison. But the end I was toasted.

He warned me. As soon as I felt a little nauseas the vivid recap of him taking that dark Maduro and telling me about it replayed in my head... By then it was too late. Ah well, one hour of nausea and some sugar later and I'm good to go. Far better than what happens when you get toasted by alcohol.

My local B&M had a surprisingly excellent selection today. Just another example of misguided thinking. There was a period of time when the inventory was just damned sad and I hadn't been back. New ownership has turned it around, the walk-in was loaded and there were several sticks I've been wanting to try. This Warped El Oso Mama being one of them, they haven't been available for something like 4 years as I recall.

I got the Opus X Destino Al Siglo in a Maduro wrapper.
