I always wanted a drum roaster though
Me too! I still look at this one every now and then:

Perhaps in my pre-retirement years? :)

Yeah ... that's their "small model"!
It will roast 5 lbs to perfection ... for only $7000. 8O
I have seen used models go for around $5000, so it could happen someday! :)

Seriously though, how do you keep your neighbor from getting out the torches? When I lived down the street from a roaster, the smell was overpowering to say the least and despite loving coffee, didn't smell the best.

This was a large operation so perhaps it's a matter of quantity but yes, it smelled pretty badly. Their coffee however is the best in town and I will happily put up with the strong smell if that is the results.

I've always been into mechanical things, minibikes, radio controlled airplanes, built my own dune buggy, guitars, up until 2 years ago playing in a band and drag racing.

For now its collecting vintage stereo equipment and albums. I've got almost 700 now.

Me way back when. I wish I still had this car. It was a fun ride

Very cool thread...lots of great hobbies and activities represented here.
I have quite a few hobbies and interests. I tend to get into things with unbridled enthusiasm and eventually the interest fades and I move onto something else. This cycle repeats every year or so with most things and eventually I come full circle back to a hobby I set aside a few years ago and the cycle begins again. Some hobbies never lose my interest though and remain constant in my life. Many if not most of my hobbies and interests revolve around being in the outdoors, I love nature and love to be outside as much as possible.
Here's a few:
Camping

Hiking

Canoeing & Kayaking

Road cycling

Mountain biking

Off roading

Shooting sports

Reloading

Hunting & Fishing

Archery

Boating

Home brewing

Wine making

Cooking

Wood working

Welding and metal fabrication

Hockey

Tennis

Pipe smoking

Reading

Listening to music

Photography

RC cars and trucks

RC planes
There's probably a couple that I've forgotten but I think I got most of them. :puffy:

Wow, yeah, right at 1500 posts. Congrats!
I used to play a lot of golf and tennis, and race sailboats. Now the first two are spectator sports, and sailing is just cruising now.
Photography, gardening, making espresso, roasting my own beans (not grown here!) and travel are the things that come to mind.

Mostly computers (games) and photography at the moment, I also like to read about pocket knives and fountain pens, occasionally play paintball, and I got a few RC cars set up recently.

I've also been made to ride horses all my life, which is what you get when your mother and all her sisters are absolute horse nuts.

Cigars (predominantly Nicaraguan and Cuban), coffee, golf, motorcycles, touring and sport, reading Newfoundland history, cooking, fly fishing. Oh yeah, photography
Work gets in the way to spend enough time at any of 'em.
For the coffee guys, I have a Behmor 1600, beans also from SM, a Gaggia Classic Espresso machine, 2 electric grinders and a hand one, a Yama vac pot, an Aeropress, a couple of French presses and a few Moka pots.
Yeah, I like coffee

All righty! I'll see your Gaggia with a La Pavoni lever, two espresso grinders and one regular coffee one. No hand grinder or vac pot, but two Aero Presses, two French Presses, but no moka. So I'll have to throw in everything with a Quickmill Andreja Premium- my ace in the hole. It's a beauty! My roaster is a Gene Machine, does only half a pound per roast, but is fairly accurate.
Happy expressing!

I was an MMA fighter during my time with the Army special operations (MOS 37F, Airborne.) Met a lot of fascinating characters that way. Started smoking a pipe when I was 19 in the military (I'm 27 now, got out in 2009.)
I learned enough to be a halfway proficient blacksmith from an old school biker in upstate New York. I have a small art studio, but have been so busy that I havn't been up to much with it for a while.
I have sonic synesthesia - I often experience music as colors, tastes, smells, that kind of thing. So I naturally love music, but am not much of a musician yet.
I enjoy writing from time to time, sometimes poetry, sometimes fiction.
Used to enjoy bonsai, had a great little ficus that I spent maybe half a dozen years on until some neighborhood kids decided to destroy it...
Still love my pipes!
Otherwise I spend about 60-70 hours a week working between jobs at two hospitals. Therefore, naturally have a coffee habit... but I don't home roast or anything.
Always found lapidary work to be rather interesting. Maybe someday I'll find a way to learn, and the time for it. Also would like to learn more mechanical type stuff.

My interests include guitar, drums, firearms, camping, and books. Book topics include logic, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, literature, and history. History areas include pre-20th century American history, WWII, history of science and mathematics. I like movies, from silent onward; and there are several TV series that I deeply enjoy, which I watch on DVD. I've got a self-published novel at amazon but haven't written another yet, although I intend to. I have an ongoing fascination with the psychology of the human female. I'm also interested in the dynamics of power between and among people. I'm curious about why people believe what they suppose is true, what is involved in self-deception, and what it might mean to be fully awake. My intellectual interests drive me more than the others. My job is an obstruction to my life, and I look forward to retirement when I'll have the time I need to explore what I care about.

I'm a serial hobbiest. I've had many, many different hobbies over the years. I usually burn out and move on to the next one. Right now, that's pipes.
My avatar is a former hobby in fact.

I inherited part of a large stamp collection (U.S., Great Britain, and Australia) and I work on that in the winter. During summer I do a bit of gardening. For the last couple of years I have been planting tobacco and have had pretty good luck. I have 10 Burley 21 and 10 Del Gold Virginia that are looking good and getting close to harvest.

@Cosmic I'm in south western Ontario, Canada not too far from Detroit. I topped my plants about 2 weeks ago. Just this morning on my drive in to work I noticed tobacco trailers lined up in front of a smoke barn. That's what gave me my cue last year and things turned out well. I may start by priming some leaves that look ready and let the plants go a bit longer. Still lots of good weather before the frost hits.
