I've always found these threads asking what people are watching, listening to, smoking, etc., rather odd, I mean, who cares? But since you ask, I've been watching Season One of Babylon 5, now switching over to Fox News. Smoking? I have been experimenting with layering different tobaccos, in some cases, tobaccos you would not normally think go together, and with some interesting results.
Now to make myself a Bourbon.

Well. . . you evidently, as the thread is pretty clearly labeled and you clicked in anyway. :)
Mostly, these threads are just a part of being companionable. I also them for new ideas of what to read, watch or listen to. I've picked up some good suggestions over the years.

Clicking on a thread or even posting does not necessarily mean you are necessarily interested. You might click because you find the topic SO banal that you only read part of it because there was nothing better and you were just wondering what ever others might be possibly saying on it! Such as that Diogenes thread where people posted 500 empty posts with nothing but a dot. But I get that it was a lot of fun for a while.
Conversely, I have a nearly 40 year interest in music, both in designing and making my own music systems, far beyond what most anyone might call a "stereo" to even having some connections and ties to some notable people in the music industry. Yet you do not see me reading or posting anything to any of the "what are you listening to" threads, though I probably have more interest in music than anyone else on the forum.

um . . .
OK.
So as a member of the forum for all of five months, you're here to tell us we're SO banal that you only click into a thread out of of some combination of crushing ennui and moral superiority, to tell us how much time we're wasting (whilst hawking your music credentials).
Interesting approach. :)
Query: When you go to parties, do you start out by telling the host and hostess how their buffet is bland and badly arranged?

TS, PLEASE READ people's comments more carefully before embarrassing yourself by either putting words in other people's mouths they never said, then replying to and acting upon a situation that exists only in YOUR mind, or, to try to put so bad an amateurish spin on something for whatever end that eludes me. Maybe you spend too much time watching MSNBC.
Do YOU find every thread here interesting? Do you click on and read every topic? I don't even necessarily read every post in every thread I post to (But I often do). Maybe you have the time but I don't.
The moderators here have TRIED to urge people to make thread titles more relevant to the topic with limited success. Most people judge whether they want to read a thread or not by the title. Sometimes you have to open a thread and read part of it to even figure out what it is! Then you know that the topic is of no interest to you. That was my only point. Sometimes I find a thread interesting or funny whether I post to it or not. Amazing that you find that hard to understand.
You first made an erroneous conclusion about a passing comment, then when I tried to kindly explain, you took a hate filled, attack posture of name-calling and rudeness. You used black and white reasoning (that is a fallacy) to draw totally wrong conclusions, then use high-sounding words and an attitude of high elitist moral superiority over me while trying to wrongly denounce me of doing the same thing. Worst, you accuse me of "hawking" a topic I barely said anything about, and then, only enough to just make a small passing point.
Then you are ignorant enough to post it all like it was some sort of "gottcha." Say, aren't you that lawyer guy? I hope your last client got a refund because lawyers are supposed to be trained in sound reason and fact finding, not innuendo.

Well SOMEONE got his little feelings hurt.
You must be right. It's those mysterious thread titles that are to blame. Whatever could a thread called "what are you watching?" be about?
Son, don't you have a super high-end stereo to fiddle with while Mom heats up your Hot Pocket?

tmb, you go ahead now and have the last word. I'm guessing that's important to you. And this has already been a little upsetting for you.

Sir, to some it may seam irrelevant, however I personally have learned a bit from reading and posting on "Redundant" threads, such as I now know that you, like me, watch Fox News, so I assume you are not a far Left thinking person, I have also learned what members like the same blends as I, have discovered other blends to try based on some comments, and have an idea of what some members interests are but the reading material they enjoy, and determine what members have a similar sense of humor and witch ones are, lets say. more refined.
There is a lot you can learn about a person by what they say, or in this case post, and some friendships have developed on this forum, taken the brotherhood of the briar just a bit further, really not a bad thing is it?

These types of threads show up on most forums. They are a good way to find like minded individuals because not everyone is interested in movies, music, etc. If you were part of a pipe club, would you only talk about pipes? Chances are you(or other members) would also talk about sports, movies, music, cars, women, or whatever else people normally talk about. Why would this forum, which is more or less an online pipe club, be any different? Also, I didn't find anything wrong with your post, you asked a question and even contributed to the topic.
Anyways, I'm currently smoking some brown flake scented and watching Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.
