Gravel finally arrived. I wanted 12 yards, but got 12 tons so a couple yards short for the driveway, but made do. Could have used 4 more yards so maybe soon... anyway. Only had to shovel, rake and tamp about 3 yards (4 tons?). First tamp for the shed done. Oh who am I kidding? I'm not gonna tamp it again am I?

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Watching the Roberto Clemente documentary.

Enjoyed a tasty red delicious apple, and am smoking Silent beta test in a 2003 medium bent Ural meer with a lined and etched egg shaped bowl with a silver band and a pearl brown acrylic saddle stem. I went to brush my teeth, and Harry the Hairy jumped on the sink to watch me. He head butted my chin twice. I gave him a little attention and then he wanted out. M'lady took treats to Daisy the Feral Princess and let Tomato the Brave in so I could give him his wet food. He thanked me and went back out. I think he left so quickly because Molly Danger wasn't far from my feet, and that made both of them a little nervous. Tomato, Suzy and Molly got some treats, too. Sleepy Suzy is by my side.

Well, It's All Over, Sort Of. I'm back but it'll take a few days of adjustment. All explained in Skippable Drivel, for those enquiring minds who want to know. In the meantime, a few smokes of note, in no particular order.

. . . .

Skippable Drivel - well, it's all over except . . . . for the cleanup. My place is a total disaster. It'll be sweep, mop, wash for days.

View attachment 419443

My latest batch of Crabapple pickles. Two types, a simple salted, and a more complex waterbath sweet'n'sour traditional pickled crab.

I have enough pickle solution for three more jars, which is perfect because I've only got three jars left unused.

All my freezing, drying, processing of fruits and meats is finished. Got a box of crabs left over, but as Mom used to say, "Compost is always good to have." I'll put them in the compost pile when the bears go into hibernation. They're out locally now and are quite a pest. Leave mounds of their own brand of compost, all over the place.

I have absolutely no freezer or storage space left. Just cleanup. Even had time to do a couple of pages of commenting this morning, but just not gonna go back further. Will do the best I can until the place is cleaned up. I'm more than a bit of a slob, but the point of no return has been reached in my disaster area. :ROFLMAO:

Time for a celebratory cigar. A Phillies Blunt Chocolate, of course! And of course, with a pot of :coffee:or three. This time, hot off the press. Will be returning to normal, shortly.

. . . . in three of my very favourite pipes. All radically different in use and smoking qualities. From top to bottom, Mr. Brog "Kaiser", which loves English Tobaccos. So do I. This pipe is a great outdoor vehicle, and is a nice, easy smoker, great at a picnic table, either my own or at a rest stop or park. Three great smokes, one with my own Basic English, one with Presbyterian Mixture, and a third with TobaccoBarn's Traditional English, all fairly mild blends. Doesn't seem to like complexities, which is fine by me when I don't, either.

In the middle is my almost broken-in (had four smokes in that double rotation I've explained earlier), Peterson Rhodesian Tavern Pipe. This is a company pipe, easy to smoke, great to hold. It seems to thrive on basic fodder, like Borkum Riff Black Cavendish, SWR, Smoker's Pride Whiskey. I've got more than a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be my go-to evening pipe with company. Gives me a good hour behind the wheel. Perfect evening pipe.

Bottom is about my favourite McQueen Longstem, the "'Russet" in ashwood. It likes Balkans, is biased for these, and is my go to pipe for this breed. It's definitely a "sipper." A fairly small bowl, it gives me (to my mind) the perfect smoke length of 45 minutes. A great smoke was had (several in fact) with Arango's Balkan Supreme, which is a new star in my universe and I have lots of it. Gotta give a big "thumbs up" for broken-in ashwood. As good as it gets imho. 'Nuff said.

Wish I could try those pickles. Sounds good. And, in my opinion, crab apples make the absolute best apple butter! Yum!

Near the first third of this bowl of year 2018 Sutliff Walnut Match in a 1990s smooth brown medium bend briar calabash shaped Butz-Choquin Maitre Pipier JR Fait Main with a horn ferrule and a black vulcanite stem. Daisy the Feral Princess wanted in to eat, and right after she finished, she hair balled it all up. Then, she wanted out. Over half the time that she does that, she wants out. That's a little odd to me. Before long, it'll be Tomato the Brave and Harry the Hairy feeding time.

Last smoke of the day is year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 2018 natural smooth medium bend Peterson 03 apple silver spigot military mount with a tapered black acrylic fish tail stem. I was going to finish the day with the previous smoke, but Daisy the Feral Princess was banging at the back door because she wanted in. I opened the door, and she gave me that "I gave you two hair balls and I have beg to get back in?" look. Well, she ate, hung around my feet wanting back scratches, and then wanted back out. Harry the Hairy was waiting at the door, so I let him in to nibble. He's been walking around the den trying to figure out what to do. Usually, that means he wants back out. I've noticed lately that he's starting to talk to me a tad more than usual. He hardly ever vocalizes unless he's in conflict with another cat so I consider three "Yeows" when he wanted more food to be progress.

Well, Harry wanted out, but ran every time I opened the door. Dunno why the door scares him, but I picked him up after the fourth try, and let him out. When I did, Tomato the Brave ran in as fast as he could. I'm sure he wants food and play. The former is easy to do, but if he wants me to play with him, he'll have get it done before I finish smoking and go to bed.
