Yesterday was a banner day here at the farm. The good old postal service brought me a couple of nice things.
First, I received my new pipe which is the Briarworks C52 Rhodesian. I was inspired recently by @Steddy when he showed his Briarworks 45th anniversary pipe which was built around the shape of their C52. It's noteworthy that the C52 is a "tip of the hat" to the Comoys vintage 498 shape.

Anyway, I was not able to get one of the anniversary models, but I did order this one. Today I had my maiden voyage smoke with some Country Squire, Cowboy Coffee.

Oh, and speaking of Country Squire.... the other gift from the mail box was some of the Squire's blends which I enjoy. It was a nice day to visit the metal box out next to the road.........

Shana tova! Celebrated with a well dried bowl (about three hours or so) of Lane BCA in my aromatic pipe, a Savinelli Miele 641 KS smooth bent apple. This jar is from about 2022 or so; I was hoping the topping would be mellowing out a bit by now. Suffice to say, my hopes were dashed as soon as I opened the jar stuck my schnozz in it. A lovely smoke nonetheless. 9/10

Bird report: House finch, California scrub-jay, California towhee, White-crowned sparrow (first sighting since spring!), Steller's jay, California quail, Band-tailed pigeon, Red-tailed hawk, American crow, Mountain chickadee, White-breasted nuthatch, Northern flicker, Oak titmouse, Dark-eyed junco, and Western bluebird.

NHL season is only two weeks away now. Time to get at early start on complaining!

A Maple-y Celebration of Autumn solstice... Chris Morgan Bones: Specimen, Author; 9mm w/ White Elephant Supermix...

Between the shape, weight, wide bowl, airway, and filter... this is just such a comfy pipe I can't recommend it enough, especially for aromatics. Smokes as cool as my wardens.

Miller lite and a snort of Jacquin's Cherry on the side... Heaven...

Relaxing after a wonderful small salad, 1.75 pounds of boneless pork chops, and cheese pasta dinner with two decent size Boston creme pie doughnuts for dessert. I just finished smoking year 2015 Mac Baren Virginia #1 in a straight black 1925 Dunhill patent shell Canadian 33 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. It's too humid for coffee tonight, so ice water and bergs is my drink.

Gravel finally arrived. I wanted 12 yards, but got 12 tons so a couple yards short for the driveway, but made do. Could have used 4 more yards so maybe soon... anyway. Only had to shovel, rake and tamp about 3 yards (4 tons?). First tamp for the shed done. Oh who am I kidding? I'm not gonna tamp it again am I?

Well I’m spending the night at my folks place in Dallas, getting ready for a red eye flight to Memphis for a last minute work trip in east Arkansas. Back in my old room, what later became grandma’s room (She’s gone to skilled nursing this week, 94 may be the last revolution, God’s strength be with her). Weird feeling. Well it’s up at 2 AM for me so this is the last smoke of the night, a mixture of haunted bookshop and my own Va/Per in Dread Pirate Coberts while seated in my folk’s back yard. IMG_7129.jpeg
