Just finishing my last smoke at my dad’s place. Gotta go finish up packing as I’m out the door before sunup. 5Bros and the new meer have been the order of the day (save one smoke of Dark Moor earlier in the same).

Sadly, I’ve got a feeling that tonight when I hugged him, told him good night, that I loved him and how proud I am to be his son, that it’s probably the last time I’ll be doing that.
Grateful every day.
One of the tougher things to deal with in life, but he'll always be around. I feel my dad often, especially in the struggles. Keep ya head up. I'm glad you're digging that new meer. Great way to keep him close as you watch those horns color. Prayers for both of yas.

Heading out with an M Cinar cherrywood filled with Waccamaw for some reflection.

Enjoyed a tall stack of cinnamon raisin French toast followed by a big bowl of fifteen bean soup, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a golden delicious apple lunch. I've passed the last third of this bowl of year 2017 Esoterica Dorchester in a straight smooth dark brown octagonal paneled mid-60s-early 70s Corporate Era Barling 4945 London England T.V.F. billiard with a square shank and black tapered square stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Gold Star Jamaica Blue Mountain Dark Roast, neat, is my drink. Harry the Hairy woke up and wanted my attention. I sat on the couch, and he got on my lap and crawled up my chest to head butt my chin. He did that three times. I had to move my pipe each time he did it so he wouldn't knock it out of my mouth. He doesn't purr much, and when he does, it's a quiet one. He's back to snoozin' on the couch. Sleepy Suzy is by my side.

Well, It's All Over, Sort Of. I'm back but it'll take a few days of adjustment. All explained in Skippable Drivel, for those enquiring minds who want to know. In the meantime, a few smokes of note, in no particular order.

. . . . in three of my very favourite pipes. All radically different in use and smoking qualities. From top to bottom, Mr. Brog "Kaiser", which loves English Tobaccos. So do I. This pipe is a great outdoor vehicle, and is a nice, easy smoker, great at a picnic table, either my own or at a rest stop or park. Three great smokes, one with my own Basic English, one with Presbyterian Mixture, and a third with TobaccoBarn's Traditional English, all fairly mild blends. Doesn't seem to like complexities, which is fine by me when I don't, either.

In the middle is my almost broken-in (had four smokes in that double rotation I've explained earlier), Peterson Rhodesian Tavern Pipe. This is a company pipe, easy to smoke, great to hold. It seems to thrive on basic fodder, like Borkum Riff Black Cavendish, SWR, Smoker's Pride Whiskey. I've got more than a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be my go-to evening pipe with company. Gives me a good hour behind the wheel. Perfect evening pipe.

Bottom is about my favourite McQueen Longstem, the "'Russet" in ashwood. It likes Balkans, is biased for these, and is my go to pipe for this breed. It's definitely a "sipper." A fairly small bowl, it gives me (to my mind) the perfect smoke length of 45 minutes. A great smoke was had (several in fact) with Arango's Balkan Supreme, which is a new star in my universe and I have lots of it. Gotta give a big "thumbs up" for broken-in ashwood. As good as it gets imho. 'Nuff said.

Skippable Drivel - well, it's all over except . . . . for the cleanup. My place is a total disaster. It'll be sweep, mop, wash for days.

My latest batch of Crabapple pickles. Two types, a simple salted, and a more complex waterbath sweet'n'sour traditional pickled crab.

I have enough pickle solution for three more jars, which is perfect because I've only got three jars left unused.

All my freezing, drying, processing of fruits and meats is finished. Got a box of crabs left over, but as Mom used to say, "Compost is always good to have." I'll put them in the compost pile when the bears go into hibernation. They're out locally now and are quite a pest. Leave mounds of their own brand of compost, all over the place.

I have absolutely no freezer or storage space left. Just cleanup. Even had time to do a couple of pages of commenting this morning, but just not gonna go back further. Will do the best I can until the place is cleaned up. I'm more than a bit of a slob, but the point of no return has been reached in my disaster area. :ROFLMAO:

Time for a celebratory cigar. A Phillies Blunt Chocolate, of course! And of course, with a pot of :coffee:or three. This time, hot off the press. Will be returning to normal, shortly.

Almost a quarter of the way through this bowl of Silent beta test in a 1986 three quarter bend Bacchus face CAO meer with a tapered dark tortoise shell colored acrylic stem.

Tonight at 8 p.m. EST The History Channel is showing a documentary on Roberto Clemente.

I'm gonna have to try to watch that documentary. RC was a tremendous player but even a better person and died tragically while on a mission of good. He influenced a lot of young folks back when I was a kid.

Nice looking flame instrument @mtwaller Ive more often than not wanted one but always catch myself buying more pipes instead.
Why thank you. And I completely understand that sentiment. For some strange reason I just came down with a bad case of LAD and now I collect Rollagas lighters, I suppose? Who knows how these things happen.

Just had a fine first run in the previously unsmoked very large Ser Jacopo L2 with a first try of Kelly's Coin, which turned out to be a great combo. Sitting out back of the Air BnB in the TX shade in complete solitary bliss until i saw the dark clouds roll across and a few droplets fall. Thankfully i was at the end of the bowl anyway and since it was the first smoke and no cake the dottle popped out with no effort whatsoever as i made my run for the door. It's coming down now. Close call after a great experience. Loving the newfound freedom to smoke without looking over my shoulder for an angry charge nurse. haha
