Didn't know it's a shag cut blend now. I'm glad I still have a couple of tins of the old stuff. I wonder how different it tastes now. I tried the 2019 version in Vegas that year, and while it was still coin cut with a little loose broken flake, it had changed by then. They decreased the perique by at least 40%.
What I’ve been getting is a thick ribbon cut with some small coins. The cut is almost like rubbed out flake but more ribbon.

Today's bowl was inspired by a noticeable drop in temperature, as though the seasonal change began right at that moment. Drew Estate Harvest On Hudson in a Savinelli Miele 641 KS smooth bent apple, paired with a Moscow Mule, and a cathartic chat w/wifey about the deevolution of the human race (surprise, surprise). Hard to keep an ember going with that much to say. 7/10

Bird report: California quail, California towhee, California scrub-jay, House finch, American crow, Mountain chickadee, Northern flicker, Oak titmouse, White-breasted nuthatch, Mourning dove, Hairy woodpecker, Dark-eyed junco, Steller's jay, California thrasher, and Western bluebird.

Happy smokes to everyone!

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious, and have a third of a bowl left of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Chatting with one of my oldest friends.

Been looking for this pipe for about half an hour . . . . mentioned in my Kewpie Doll post on PaulRVA's pipe, I'd find it, and lo and behold it was just a few posts below his lovable monster.

I'm the first to admit I don't know much about pipes, and tend to post about others' pipes that I find aesthetically pleasing and that I'd like to own. In other words, personal taste. I know nothing about the historic aspects of pipes, value, style types . . . but I'm here to learn, and when I have time I'll find out. I know it will add much pleasure to my browsing.

I do know I'm fond of quarter bent stems, love smoking them, and have about a dozen of them. I've always loved wood and wood grain (a kickover from the violin world), and this one seemed to have it all.

To me, a magnificent pipe, and beautifully presented. Kewpie Doll for sure!! 😃 👍👍

A quarter of a bowl left of year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight, smooth brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Special 38 bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Tomato the Brave came in, ate plenty, and wanted back out. Daisy the Feral Princess was at the door, and is inside eating now. Before long, I'll take Molly Danger to the bedroom so I can let Harry the Hairy in to eat.

After a very disappointing, windy and rushed smoke earlier (my VaPer in the cob) while walking around trying to find where the hell this conference is, I am now relaxing in the Montecristo cigar bar at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas with my Cameroon Nub. A decaf Americano is my accompanying drink.IMG_6939.jpeg
